It is a shame kids today do not get that chance.

I remember it taking a hour to get from sonic old location to pic and pay shoes and back.

Oh the fun had.,buy a milk jug full of coors at larkins and a bag of weed at boltons trailer park and ride town.

Get a race up and head up to top of snapp ferry.,get munchies and get a chef burger

Sonic was across from the round table. Where the UPS store and Barber shop are now. It shut down almost 30 yrs ago. I was 6 or 7 when they closed. The car hops actually wore skates.

I cruised in the 90 from Arbys to Burger Chief. I have lots of good times and memories from then and none of them include drinking or drugs. So unlike the first poster I have a good time cruising without drinking or drugs.

When I cruised it was from Hardee's to Ford Motor Company.

That was the most fun I've had in my life and I have been and done about everything.

And I would also like to say that stopping cruising was one of the cruelest things they done to this town.

Different strokes,
I never wrecked a car in my life,
Bet your kid is texting while he drives
Sonic stood were that chiropractor office is now.
That area of town died after they stopped cruzin
Drinking was part of growing up then, that,my generation is far more mature than what is happening today,
We worked and had fun,now they dont work and keep their face in their phone

And most can't put air in a tire and they wonder why they can't find a job.

Another "move" by the city to oust those pesky kids with their nice rides, loud stereos, and neon lights. The zombie pill apocalypse is much more desirable by the elders of this town.

Saying drinking is part of growing up is pretty dumb if you ask me. I do agree with you on the fact that kids are in their phones too much. But driving around drunk and with a bag of weed? That's growing up? So you want your kid to wreck into someone while they are drunk, and when the cops get there he has a sack of bud? Your a marvelous parent. Greeneville doesn't need cruising. We are to small of a town and have to much traffic as it is.. If your going to be ignorant and waste your gas when it's 4$ a gallon just take a trip to JC or Knoxville and back.

Greeneville does need cruising. It actually kept a lot of kids out of trouble back then. Now, they're all out doing pills, breaking into homes, drinking and driving...etc. I cruised in the 90's, when it took an hour to get from McD's to Burger Chef. I'd much rather pay 30 bucks in gas for my daughter to cruise town on a Friday or Saturday night, than for her to be in mischevious somehwere.

Amen! I was a cruiser in the 90's as well. One of the best times of my life as well and my parents never had to worry about where I was at! I was happily in town, with my friends, spending my money with local businesses! The town neglected to take into consideration how much money the cruising kids pumped into the local economy. Now kids that aren't up to no good are taking their money to neighboring towns! Greeneville gets what it asks for! I still don't do business with McDonald's or Arby's. I recall they were all for an end to it.

If you will notice several places along there dried up when the cruising stopped. The kids were good for business. Sonic moved, Burger Chef closed. Never saw anybody in any serious trouble over the cruisin, maybe a ticket for squealing the tires coming out of the Burger Chef...lol
