I saw a car pulled over today by a plain unmarked suv. the guy was not wearing a uniform . It was way down the Ashville Hwy about 6 miles. Does the county police dept use unmarked suv's?

If I get pulled over by an unmarked car, Im going to keep driving until I get to the police station.

Too many times I have heard of people pretending to be cops and then robbing and or killing the people they pull over.

It was most likely a US Marshal. They typically drive SUV's that have hidden blue lights and they will pull you over for excessive speed, wreckless driving, etc.

Unmarked cars....if you do this please call the police station on your way in. The car behind you will undoubtedly know what you are up to and they are more likely to catch the guy if the police are aware. Also if it is a real cop they can relay and tell you it is. You will not get a ticket for not pulling over either. especially if you are a woman alone at night. This is typically when this happens due to your inability to see the car. always drive to a well lit area but call the police dept also. this is from a police officer who did a womens self defense training class. I would like to see some police officers or officer wives post on this.

They will and they can, but i have not heard of it happening often. No not all cops are going to unmarked cars that is entrapment. The same reason they can not sit off the rd in hiding and then give you a ticket. Now if you can see them when you come around a curve and are going to fast well thats not exactly what i mean.

entrapment
Entrapment holds if all three conditions are fulfilled:

The idea for committing the crime came from the government agents and not from the person accused of the crime.
Government agents then persuaded or talked the person into committing the crime. Simply giving someone the opportunity to commit a crime is not the same as persuading them to commit that crime.
The person was not ready and willing to commit the crime before interaction with the government agents.
driving an unmarked police car is not entrapment

Im a man, i guess this means im screwed. Im afraid of not pulling over and having it be a real cop and have them beat my ass to a bloody pulp. Ive seen it happen on youtube quite a bit. Damned if you do, damed if you dont. Thats why I would drive all the way to the police station parking lot. Youre much less likely to get curb stomped in the police parking lot with security cameras.

Good tip for about calling the station ahead of time. Thanks.

its not ever that simple or clear cut as someone telling you to speed. I dated an officer for quite sometime and the way he explained it to me was that you could sit off the rd and not be seen immediately but still had to be seen. If they are sitting back in the woods and still able to see the rd or behind a sign where they are hidden from view then it was entrapment, especially if it was in an area where speeding was subjective. Like az.

Well, dope, I have actually been pulled over twice for excessive speed by US Marshals. They have wide ranging jurisdiction and will pull you over for simple traffic violations. Due to the fact that they are not able to show up in court, they do not issue citations unless they find an escalated violation. The first time it happened to me was several years ago and just after it happened, I too was surprised and called a relative who works for the FBI and he confirmed that a US Marshal would most def pull you over for suspicious activity (excessive speed, wreckless driving, suspected DUI).

Thanks for being a know it all, but obviously, you don't know it all.

FBI Agents and U.S. Marshals are Federal Officers. Traffic laws are the province of state and local authorities. It's possible these officers could enforce traffic regulations on Federal reservations, but as a rule,( Law ) that is the province of uniformed Federal officers.

Your arrogance in assuming you know all is amusing. I am just getting back on to see this. Actually, the second time I was pulled over was by a US Marshal that I knew from some time ago. He told me that they work at the Federal Courthouse and have jurisdiction over anything from traffic violations to higher level criminal acts, although they rarely act or get called to act. I was pulled over both times for speed in excess of 90 mph, which they will act on. Keep laughing, typical Greeneville know it all fool.
