I share her struggle. Our family budget is very tight, just affording gas and entry to go to the wrestling events was hard on us...not to mention giving our child a few dollars for food each time. We are supportive parents who don't just send our kids off to another county or state on a bus without a parent. I am actually relieved this season is almost over and we can catch a financial break.I don't have a child in this race. I knew how hard some county schools patents and athletes had to work to get the money for wrestling. I applaud any athlete/school for making it to the state tourney. I outside any team/athlete that wins state. I certainly don't want to cause a war. I was simply stating that GHS obviously has it in their budget to pay for their athletes meals at state just as the county schools do. They just choose not to. I do know that my friend is a single mother and it is very hard for her to come up with the money for her child to eat out that much. But she managed so I guess its all good. BTW she is a taxpayer as well, not asking for any freebies.

Unfortunately that is the struggle for many parents with children who play sports. It is one of the hidden costs of sports that is often overlooked.

You are so right. But, having them in supports helps to keep them occupied and out of trouble. So parents struggle to get the funds for these kids to participate in sports. Good luck to the athletes participating in the individual state wrestling tourney this weekend.

GHS Wrestling took three food bins to the state tournament. If a kid didn't want to buy food, he didn't have to. It was the kid's choice to run to the concession stand. The food bins were available for all the wrestlers. A kid could have went all three days and not spent a dime. I think they had a free team meal after it was over at Outback as well. Again, for free to the kids.

Atleast City is teaching the kids that not everything is free for when they get out of school and have to work and pay for things themselves why baby them and give them everything for free but instead show them they have to work for things.

Not every kid likes peanut butter for three meals a day!
