If the people of Greene County want to have a school board that will only have the children of Greene County interest at hand they need to vote out all that is on there now... I only one that I could see that was working for our children resigned.. I am new here about 6 years and already I can see this board has problems.. Lets look out for our kids and not worry so much about Dr. Parkins and his job... If you as parents ever try to get in to see him "he is in a meeting or to busy to see you"

I agree except that I do like Rex Hopson. He is a great guy who wants the best for those he represents.

or having him return my calls.. It the bold face lie and excuses he uses when he is in the wrong..
and doesn't have an answer for you.. so it be him or whoever they get they are all the same..
money money they don't care oneway or another

you are one of the lucky ones then if he sees you I know for a fact he has not been availble for a lot of parents.. I do agree it is all about the money, I feel our teachers should be paid more and less given to managers of the system after all they are the ones who are working hard teaching our kids.. They need to be paid a lot for that ...

The only thing I have to say about the school board is that they should get the teacher to have the children do their work at school. stop sending home all that home work for parents to worry with. That is what their getting paid to do. My children are adults now but I see them worring with their childrens homework for hours almost everynight. They have jobs and after working hard all day so that they can give their children a good education. They are having to come home and help them.....So think about it, the parents has already went to school, did their time and now has a job and trying to do the best they can for their children. let the teachers do what they went to school for ...TO TEACH!

by law your children are only allowed 2 hours of actal homework. If they have more then that then they are not doing their work in class.
and yes they get paid to teach our children but it is also the parents responabilty to make sure your children are learning what they are taught. so don't put it all on the teachers. yes I work, 3rds at that and still have 3 children in school and 1 in college.. and they are all honor roll students as I take an intrest in their education so they aren't running the streets at 2 am like I see so make teens doing

Thats what I'm talking about if the Teachers were doing their job they would make sure the Children were doing their work! So the parents would NOT have too!

Oh my god what your saying is that its all on the teachers. That the parents don't have a responsibility to tell their children to do their work and not goof off. and what ever disease these children have now adays is just a excuse for the parents to blame everything on these teachers who don't get paid enough to put up with cause you are to lazy to make sure your child is doing what they are suppose to be doing to start with.. you had em deal with it..

Teachers are paid to teach. Teachers only have so much time each day to teach. Standards the students are supposed to meet are getting tougher. Teachers have to teach the material. That does not mean that the students should have time to do it in class. Students need to at the very least spend some time working on that material at home so that they learn it at school and review it at home. Let me guess, you are a moron, your kids are morons, and now you want your grandchildren to be morons?

Don't ever have children do their homework. Remember Walmart is ALWAYS hiring.

This does sound a little foolish... I do believe that the kids do get to much homework at times but I also understand that if they don't do thier work in class they have to take it home. I have 2 degrees I in education and 1 in the medical feild and sometimes I have to go over their work a couple of times.. Some parents don't have any education so that is the cases where the child is not helped and they fall thru the cracks.. I feel the teachers are not paid enough for what they are put thru from everyone, but on the other hand they chose that and lets make sure they do a good job at it..

and those children whose parents aren't educated are who i truly feel sorry for. those are the people that complain the most and give out the best excuses on why their children are slow. and then blame the teachers instead of taking responsibility for their actions. so they need to step up and quit blaming everyone but themselves

What can you expect from this board, when David Johnson(chairman) is shacked-up with a teacher, Kathy Austin is between men, Morrison should have stayed retired, Kathy Crawford is in over her head, Rex Hopson is for jeans on Friday, and Jr. Weems... oh well, you get what you pay for.

Teachers can only do so much. It's our responsibility as parents to be involved in our childs school education. We help our child every night reading spelling whatever. It starts at home and a lot of people forget that.

Teachers have a very difficult job. There are so many guidelines they have to reach. I came from a family of teachers and they love their jobs. They bring a great deal of work home with them. I agree they should teach however they should be given guidelines that allow them to teach. Homework should not take forever, and teachers should not be tied down to TEST GRADES. They have so many children in a class room now they only have so much time to cover the material they have to cover. It all starts at home. If parents didn't want the trouble of parenting they should not be parents.
