Call USPS and ask if we are required to pick up your mail, they will tell you NO.

Im sorry it isn't practical for you.I love the convenience and security of my po box. It sounds like your carrier isn't doing their job.The guy claiming to work there saying it isn't required to pick up outgoing mail is wrong. If the flag is up they are obliged to pick up your outgoing mail.He really does sound like a jerk.I hope a chihuahua bites him in his behind and gets lockjaw.

I had this happen once before. When I asked the mail lady she told me I got too much junk mail and she was tired of having to take the time to stuff it all in my mail box so I could start picking it up at the post office. :( When i complained, she started leaving my mail in a plastic tub by the road.

You will probably have to make a trip to the Post Office. You cannot get any postal service by phone. I have tried before. If I am not mistaking the postal number for Greeneville(city) is not even listed. And good luck with the 800 number.

They are over paid and are worthless! But wait and see its about time for another raise.

As a current letter carrier in the city of Greeneville, it is our responsibility to pickup mail when the flag is up. We r not required to pickup mail at a house when we r on a walking route and we do not have mail for that house, but alot of us do out of common curiosity. There has to b something wrong with ur mailbox, so I would go down to the post office and speak with the postmaster, not the supervisor!!!!

Let's get one thing straight, the USPS is self supported and we do not get any tax payer dollars! Lazy? U r more than welcome to come and walk 6 miles in the rain, sleet, snow and ice to deliver mail and we will c who is lazy!

I assure you I am neither worthless or overpaid. I work very hard for the pay I get and it took a lot of time and effort to get the job I have.If you have never walked, carried or driven to deliver the mail, then perhaps, you should not make such a blanket statement about all postal workers.Yes, there are people that do not take pride in what they do ,but that is true in any job. We hear lots of complaints, some legitimate and some not.As far as the 800 number, USPS did that, not your local office, same as the removing of the vending machines.USPS.com has an employment section that shows what job openings are available, so sign up and find out what its like to make make 700+ deliveries when it's 20 degrees and iced over!

hey 30 year moron i just had the same problem as this young lady did and i called the postal complaint department and put in a complaint and was told exactly the same thing (oh yeah) said they are required to pick up my out going mail and that my complaint would be answered and takin care of with in 24 hours. im thinking mr 30 year shouldn't have made 30 days before firing his lazy ass. i even told the lady that because of the poor service i do 75 percent of my mail transactions online ie: bills, payments, etc etc . on the internet because of poor quality service like im sure ole 30 year man is. i do so love reading just dumbass lame people and it makes me all the more do my business in a way that i dont have to depend on the usps. i can see why they are losing billions of our dollars and maybe they should wake up and see that for themselfs.

Maybe your carrier decided it was time for you to get off your lazy butt and go to the post office yourself. Your stamps pay for delivery, not pick up. The red flags only signal that mail in there, it does not require us to pick it up! If you don't like living in the country, then move to the city. Are you elderly or disabled? Probably not! Probably just too lazy to go to the post office and you want your mail carrier to do your work for you! Mail carriers are the hardest working people in the country and get no respect. Rain, snow and storms, they must work. You're probably just upset because your foodstamps didn't come in the mail.
You sound a little "postal", go get another "drink"

This thread is cracking me up!!! I can't believe some mail carrier is getting so worked up about having to pick up a few peices of mail. That is their job, right? Let me try some of that shit at my workplace and I'd be out the door so fast....

It's not our responsibility to pick up your out-going mail when there is no mail to deliver. It is a courtesy that some carriers do voluntarily but picking up mail from an unofficial location (i.e., a home mailbox or public place) is NOT a job requirement. You should take your mail to an official USPS drop box or to the post office.
I understand that mail does not have to be picked up in town if there is not incoming mail...but that is not the case in the county. I call the bull**** rule on that one. If you see a flag up it is your responsiblity to pick up the mail. I have family in the USPS and I know the rules. Either you are lazy and don't want to do your job or you think it is your God given right to decide who gets mail. I don't think so to either of those. Pick up the mail and deliver the mail like you are paid to do.
