Tim White wins, County loses

Tonight at the Commission meeting, Tim White arrogantly argued his point that even if he was guilty, he shouldn't be found guilty because it was his accussers that were the source of his problems. Yes, he says he may have done wrong, but all these other people did even more wrong by making him out to be a bad guy, dragging his name through the dirt. And yes, he should have known better, but by dangy, those dirty politics are at work against me and I shouldn't be blamed here cause someone has it out for me. Well, the Commission agreed, 11 to 7. And even though it is a black and white issue that Mr. White was 100% guilty as charged, he got a pass.
This means that although there is a published Code of Ethics that our Governing Board must follow - to hell with that. The Elected Officials are above the law.
So Tim wins and the County loses. There are no ethics. There are no standards. The elected officials can do whatever the hell they want to. And us concerned citizens? To hell with us. Try going over the speed limit and claim you didn't realize the limit was 45 and you are doing 65. Try that arguement and see how far you get.
Yes, the county citizens lost tonight. I say disband the disfunctional so-called Ethics Committee. Throw away the printed Codes of Ethics. Let no one complain when an elected official does whatever they want - they are above the law, as was proven tonight.
Was Tim guilty? Not just yes but hell yes. Did he deserve to be ousted from the board? Maybe not. But how about continuing education in the Codes of Ethics? Maybe a letter of reprimand. Something! But to give him a pass is a slap in the face of every law-abiding citizen in this county. No wonder the confidence in our board is so low and falling by the minute. No wonder our country is going to hell in a handbasket. It is just going to get worse as time goes on. As arrogant as Tim is, you ain't seen nothing yet. Now that he has been given a free pass, he knows beyond any doubt that he is above the law, untouchable, and is probably planning his run for county mayor in two years.
I for one am more sure now than ever before that our system is broken with little or no hope of a fix.
Tim, way to go! You have proven your own arragant point that you are above the law and to hell with the little man!
God help our county and our country. We are without any common standard of conduct and no one really seems to give a damn, especially the commissioners who gave him the pass!

i can't argue with your logic about the dumbazzes on the Commission at least. lol Just remember as they come up.. vote the idiots out and hope for better. That's all we really can do. The property tax hike showed everyone what they thought of the voter..

Ya lets stick on the ethics issue, I personally dont give a damn how they did what, bottom line is he saved the county 10 grand on a way overpriced job to begin with, seems like some of you people would be concerned about what was spent on that damn building to begin with...........

They don't care about the money the county saves. They just hate anyone who is in position of power. They always want to vote someone new in. Why, so they have someone new to backstab

Bottom line, democrats have no shame. They never have. They don't make men like my Daddy any more. You know the kind of men who stood up for right and called wrong what it was ----WRONG. This saga is just another example of American and Greene County going down the path of doom. End times people.

This is obviously close to the end times. The Bible says that when, "What's right seems wrong, and when what's wrong seems right", the end is near. Well people we're there in every aspect. Ethics policies in any governing body are for appearances ONLY... We "little" people should know the law only applies to "us", not the governing body. People they protect their own! We DO need to remember who these people are and VOTE them out next time. They laugh at the voters and brag about how we will forget come election time. I think it would be a good idea to put up a billboard come election time with board members and county commissioners who vote against the people, i.e. increased property taxes, unethical behavior etc. We can't give up. We have to think about our children and grandchildren. What kind of place do we want to leave to them? "We the People" have to start voting our way back one elected official at a time until we have the majority. Sounds like Bill Clinton was at the meeting last night.

He never saved the county a penny. First of all how do you know that he wasn't in with the other company that bid and had them bid it that high? How do you know that a third company wouldn't of been much cheaper? Answer is, you don't. I'm not saying this happened, I don't know and you don't either. He certainly is in a position to easily gain access to job costs and benefit from them. This certainly is a conflict of interest whether you or anyone else believes it or not! I'm to the point I really don't care anymore what they do. They done me in when they gave raises to each county employee with the revenue from our land taxes that they misrepresented as being for our education system. I haven't had a raise in 7 years and I am not complaining, I'm fortunate just to have a job. Doesn't seem fair to raise my taxes to give a raise to someone else. I don't care to pay more for education, I'm blessed and fortunately can. Just don't lie to me. Everyone should be thankful if you have a job, teachers included and ride this darn economy out with the income you're getting now. It's not a time to be giving raises. If you own your own company that certainly is up to you. My comment is for the deep pocket commissioners.
Tim White has his own company to do the job. Why would he be in with someone else. You all make me sick with your complaining. If you don't like the situation then do something to change it or shut up!!! Dang all you do is complain, complain, complain...

Lot a folks complaining about the property tax increase for the schools, however what most don't know is that the Mayor and a few others didn't want the tax increase for the schools but were planning a bigger increase to fund the new jail. The passing ot the tax increase for the schools was a schock and a disaster for the new jail gurus. Either way there was going to be a big tax increase and very possibly even more soon. The (no)
voters on the first increase are still planning to build a new jail, make no mistake about it. The only question is, how to get you to pay for it.

As for the meeting last night, the most ironic thing I heard was TEd calling Tim arrogant un appoligetic. Although Ted did vote no on the property tax increase, his wife is a teacher in the county and therefore should not have voted period. HE HAD A CONFLICT. I guess its only wrong if you get caught. Politicians are and will always be politicians.

Last night when taking votes Ted Hensley voted to remove White as a commissioner. Ted should not have voted to begin with, when all this tax thing came up since his wife is a teacher. But Ted voted not to increase taxes and he should not have voted at all do to a conflict of interest. So its okay that Ted voted not to increase the tax...but it wasnt okay for Tim to vote for an increase in Tax....hum..thats kinda like the pot calling the kettle black isnt it. Shouldnt Ted and Tim both have not voted to begin with....

TEd voted NO to give his wife a raise with that tax increase! I have no problems when a commissioner votes no to his own pocketbook. Go Ted!

We were screwed in a public meeting and on the front page of the paper. That's the way democrats do, if they do something wrong. They are arrogant, and nasty. If a republican did the same thing, they're criminals....go figure......

As far as I am concerned the people are getting exactly the kind of government they deserve. If voters had the nerve to vote out anyone and I mean everyone who is retired from a county job (including teachers), works for the county, serves on any county board or has a family member that gets a county salary, those elected might be able to govern fairly. Many do not realize that several on the county commission have teachers in the family or were a teacher themslves such as Allen Broyles. I am an independent and usually vote republician because there is a more choice there but----I will not and did not vote for any member of the county commission that had previously been a member. We need new people to make intelligent decisions based on the economy, the views of people they serve and other reasons other then a political party. Officials playing party politicts is in no ones best interests.

Same goes for trying to get a job at the courthouse or annex. Which is a county salary as you stated. If someone finally retires, they pass it on to another family member. You are correct on your statement.

Did anyone ever think we are never going to get an intelligiate person in a commissioners job that only pays 50 bucks a month all they want is their name on the front page. Maybe we should run a background check and credit score, cuz if they can't manage their own money I sure as heck don't want them to manage mine, but geez what do we do, can't get ppl to stick together

The people have already started to make a change in the right direction...They just voted out a good ole boy on the school board. Someone fresh and new. Ms. Deborah Johnson, she's promised not to read a conflict of interest statement, she's just not going to vote if she has a conflict. How refreshing. I think that's a quesiton all candidates should be asked when running for a office. Let all school board members, and commissioners be put on notice, you can be beat!!! You haven't heard much about this have you? The media has been pretty quiet about that. The school system is holding it's breath waiting to see if the 2 votes she beat her opponents by is certified in Nashville. A win is a win. That's why every vote counts!!! The school system doesn't want her in there. She plans on representing the people who elected her, not special interests. I've heard them discussing this out in the public. We can do this with every race next election. There is hope.
