it's an ok place to work as long as you don't mind actual work & lots of hours. their pay system is trash. they start people out at more than what a lot of guys that's been there for a couple years make now. that just isn't right to come in making more than people that have been there for a year or two doing the same thing. i was also told that top out pay for welders was $17 something an hour. what they don't tell you is it might take 15 years to top out. the biggest raise you can get during your evaluation is .55 cents. you get four raises your first two years (6 months apart). so lets say you started at $13.19, with four perfect scores on your raise evaluations is $2.20 but you will never ever get that (.35-.45 is average) so that brings you up to $15.39. sounds ok, but after your two years are up, you just get one raise per year. so it will take another 4-5 years to top out if you get perfect evaluations (which you won't). there are people that have been there since the place opened that still are not topped out. that is bullshit. then add on top of that some bosses get better evaluations than others, & you have to pay half of what your welding hood costs, pay for your green sleeves, & welding jackets. that is bullshit too. we make decent money, but i have no life outside of working at angus palm.
My dad has been tere for 13 years since te place opened and still hasn't topped out!

probably about 6+ years. Give or take a little, I'm
not sure. If you actually do really good like your expected it don't take long for raises. as example my dad.

A union isn't necessary. It will do more harm than good. AP is actually Worthington Industries now and everything is changing in a positive way. WI is a great company.

Unions were established to improve working conditions. Now they are used as a way to receive "entitlement", Companies cannot compete with the Asian markets now because of high wages. If all commodities would lower their prices then we could all afford to work for lower wages therefore creating competition in the Asian market. Eventually the Asian market will have to raise wages but we cannot wait for the gap to close if we want to compete.

Been work in at wi for about 8 months now and I hate it. Pay sucks. All this bs about raises are lies. I have had perfect scores and saw a 15 cent raise. We are a profit sharing company and we loss money ever since we changed. Paint department is the worst. We work 7 days a week and if you ask for a day off or take a day off be ready for that write up slip when u get back.

if you hate it so much, get another job. If you hate it, I'm sure they don't want you there anyways.
