Idk why everybody is acting like this kind of stuff has never happened before and how times have changed since you were in high school.
There was 2 seperate occasions that kids got stabbed by others kids when I was in high school, 20 some years ago.
As a matter of fact, in the 4 years there, 2 kids got stabbed, 1 kid killed her parents, 1 kid killed himself, a kid tried to run a school bus off the road to get to another boy, 1 boy about got beat to death by 3 brothers with chains and I'm sure there was a lot more I can't remember. That was just at 1 of the county schools, probably same stuff happened at the other 3 county schools also.
Well Idk what county school you went to 20 years ago but things like that sure as heck did not happen at my school. In this small town, everyone knows about what is going on almost the minute it happens even if it's at another school. Maybe what you say really happened and most of it was kept quiet.

Exploiting young children..I hope who ever posted their names is not an adult either. They are juveniles so their names are kept confident. Nobody should be discussing what they don't know. If you do know them keep it to yourself. Talk to your children at home. Pray for the families in church.
And once again, the public had a right and a duty to find out what happened to ensure it does not happen again. I agree the children's names shouldn't be posted but the event itself absolutely should be discussed. This is a community discussion forum and this, among other things going on in our community, is what the forum is designed for. Any one who wants the event swept under the rug and no questions asked has a motive for wanting that.

You must not know what exploiting means.I don't have to know the attempted murderer. When the kid goes to prison he might learn what exploited really means.

She was brave, a hero... but I don't think we should be teaching our kids to go toe to toe with the guy/girl holding a knife/gun... Yes, she may have saved lives and she deserves a metal for her actions but I'd be lying if I said, "Boy, I hope my daughter is brave enough to take the bad guy down." I pray she takes cover/hides. I would be very proud of her for that...

How long have you lived in this small town that everyone knows everything? Because some of that stuff happen at CDHS about 20 years ago. So yes this small town has seen this stuff before. Just 20 years ago we didn't have all the social media to make it as public.

I'm having a little trouble working up sympathy for the guy that made the conscious effort to take a weapon to school and try to kill someone.

I attended CDHS and of course all that stuff didn't happen at the school, but it all did happen.

The kid is going to be tried as an adult on the grounds of attempted first degree murder. Many children seen this happen right before their eyes. I just wonder how many others were damaged by this.

Well my friend, exactly 20 years ago I was attending the same school you were! I'm a Black Knight as well and NONE of what you mentioned happened while I was there. Ginger Turnmire killed her parents but that was in the 80's not 20 years ago. As for the rest of your post no one got stabbed or beat to death at school 20 years ago either!

Did not see your post before I made my last one. Yes bad things have always happened outside of school. I recall a kid at NG killing his sister and I recall a kid at CDHS killing his brother not long after graduation. The original poster I replied to made it out like kids have had the balls to go to school and stab and/or kill other kids in front of the student body for the last 20 years and that is not the case by any means!

Sorry but this was a little over 20 yrs but a Dunbar boy got stabbed at a CDHS after school activity back in 85-87 time frame. So yes kids did have the balls to go to school or school activities and stab kids in front of other student body.

Interesting. What did he stab him with and was it premeditated as this event appears to be? 85-87 is before my time. Nothing remotely close to this happened during my school years nor did I fear my classmates would do anything like this to me or anyone else. Guess we just got lucky to be in a good group during K-12

Do I believe this is the worst thing to have happened to the South Greene Student Body, no not by far. In the late sixties the Freedom Fighters came to East Tennessee. They attacked Greeneville High and Middle School and totally disrupted classes and caused chaos. They were supposed to have come to South Greene the next day after causing trouble in Greeneville. We were told they would arrive sometime late in the morning or early afternoon. Then principal James Parham made an announcement that we would not give up our school like Greeneville had done. We would not leave, if we had parents who could come help but not take us home we were free to use the phone to ask them to come. It was a very tense situation, almost military like. We were told to use anything available to fight off an attack. Supposedly someone warned the freedom fighters and they did not come pass the Nolichuckey River Bridge. This is my memory, others may remember different.
So, you're saying something that almost happened at South Greene but didn't happen, is worse than this innocent kid being stabbed and almost murdered? Kudos to that principle for putting his young students in a very dangerous situation back in the 60's by putting them in a "military like situation" as you say... Greeneville High is still here, looks like they got to keep it after all."rolls eyes"
