"Just another bunch of commie bastards trying to say what people can do with their property"

Seriously? Honestly, I'm pretty sure my children have never used an encyclopedia. The internet has simplified EVERYTHING! Texting has made "note passing" a thing of the past. So, teach your children the school policies and get over your shit. I have nothing further to say on the matter.

If the child knows they are NOT suppose to have a phone in class, then they have every right to take the phone. If a parent knows this and lets it happen, then the child is getting poor parenting at home. School is for getting your child prepared for college or life. It's not to teach them to be a telemarketer. So get over yourself. You sound like a spoiled brat yourself! If you got a problem with it hire a lawyer and see what they tell you. If they take the case, it's just cause they're hungry and want your money.
you must be one of the idiots who think they have so much power. their job is to teach academics only. preparation for life up up to the parents. teachers need to reel themselves in and teach only the subjects at hand and not morals, manners, or any other social skill. so - you get over yourself

I can tell you are a spoiled young brat. It's obvious your parents never taught you any morals. Kids that are like you have to be taught morals because their parents aren't doing their job. It's kind of hard to teach kids like you academics, when you've got a cell phone stuck in your nose. That's when the morals the teacher has to teach kids like you, kicks in. A good lesson of butt bustin never hurt a piece of trash like you either.

well genius, to start i am 57 years old and lesrned long ago that fools like you want to be told what to do because you havent the where-with-all to think for yourself. you want these jerks to teach your children morals - well in the case of your children its likely the only way they will be taught anything at all. you just want to conform to whatever standard is put before you.i realize i am wasting my time telling you anything since your very narrow mind is made up and incapable of original thought. that being the case let me close with - if our forefathers had been of your ilk we would still be speaking with a british accent - aye ducky? ta ta

One can only assume by your spelling, that you missed out on the spelling class. My kid had morals before he ever went to school. That's why he doesn't get his cell phone out in class. To go against rules when young will only lead to corruption when old.

you made me laugh - that a good thing. the things we have been discussing are serious. the teaching of children and the taking of liberties by person in positions of authority. these things are important to us all as they effect our way and quality of life and freedom. however, you may rest assured that bombings and shootings are NO part of any solution.

I couldn't agree more. Cell phones shouldn't be out in class and played with. How ever carrying one is a different story. If they have one in their pocket turned off and it falls out, they will confiscate it. that is where I have a problem. My son does carry his phone to school. With those specific instructions. It will not be on during school. But if he needs it. Specially for after school activities.

it is consider theft if you take it and don't give it back how about that being a big lawsuit.....if a woman can spill her coffee from mcdonalds and become rich off it how you think a lawsuit on a school system would pay out

The NSA can tell us all about who does what on a cell phone & when they do it... Maybe they can help ;-) NOT!

Cell phone's have become a crutch. What about knowing what your kids are doing after school instead of relying on a cell phone? COMMUNICATE!! As for the policy, the only way to reach some children is to upset the parents. Paying for the cell phones make parents upset. They are more likely to say something to the child about getting it taken away because it affects them. Some parent's don't care if their child goes to In-School Suspension because it happens during the day and doesn't interrupt their lives. Just my opinion....

The phone should be taken if they have it out and its interrupting class. You then call the parents and return the phone when they come and get it, no charge, and as many times as it takes for the parent to get fed up with coming to get it. What ever happened to the teacher having a student leave if they were disruptive? I dont agree with them charging for the return of anything. We pay for the school and the staff so I feel we have payed enough.

I am the parent of a child that pays the bill and bought the phine. If you want to punish my child by taking the phine that's fine but as the responSibley party of the phone I should be called and then the phone should be released to me since it is my property! If you refuse to release my property to me with my assurance that the phone will be kept at home for the duration of the punishment you are unlawfully keeping my property.

Sorry if I misinterpreted what you were saying. I'll leave any actual complaints to the parents, but I just thought I would throw out some of my concerns over the policy. My only real problems with the policy is the asking for money to return them and concern over safety when they drive home. I've been in a serious wreck before, and I was very thankful to have a cell phone after the wreck. That is my perspective on it.
Other than that, I'm glad they are trying to crack down on cell phones being used in schools. I just think there may be better ways to punish the cell phone users.
No chance, you make very good points. I don't agree with the "choice" to pay the "optional" $20 fee when I am the one paying for my child to use the phone. If you take it up for the day for punishment thats fine with me. I fully believe that as the parent I should have my personal property returned to me if I go to the school to request it and I should not be charged aN "optional" mandatory fee for the return of my property. It is considered unlawful taking if my property is kept once I have asked for it to be returned to me.

If you don't agree with rules the school has, then don't send your child there. A parent is responsible for their child until they reach the age of 18. Teach your child a valuable lesson and make them buy you another phone. If you think this is unlawful taking of your property, then go to the law. They will laugh at you like I am. If you gave your child permission to take the phone to school, then they have every right to keep the phone. You are more childish than your child is. Grow up and maybe your child will!

I'm not being defensive. Sorry I come off that way. I really don't have a problem with cell phones as long as students aren't using them. I also don't think students should be allowed to have them in the bathroom, but anything else is fine with me.
I am being serious... If you don't like it, contact the school board.
Then whats good for one should be good for ALL even Teachers
