One person died as a result of a motorcycle versus car accident this afternoon on the Rogersville Highway. The accident happened around 3:00 PM near the Albany Road intersection, approximately 7 miles from Greeneville.

According to witnesses, two motorcycles, travelling at a high rate of speed, were heading south toward Greeneville. A car pulled from Albany Road onto the Rogersville Highway. The rider of the lead motorcycle struck the car in the front quarter panel, ejecting the rider. He was killed instantly. The other motorcyclist was able to apply his brakes and swerve behind the car and avoid any collision. The driver of the car was uninjured, aside from a small cut on his hand.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating. No names have been released pending notification of next of kin.

It was the second fatal accident of the year in Greene County.

If everyone ran the speed limit less accidents would occur. If the person was pulling out of a drive way or parking lot what makes you think they didn't look twice or three times. Accidents happen regardless, but once you facture in high rate of speed "Thp"the outcome isn't in your favor when you are on a motorcycle. I think you should be 30 before you can get a motorcycle license. I'm not saying everyone drives fast. I just think most people are more mature at that age. I think that supplies for vehicles also. Some people should never be allowed to drive period. I don't know any of the people involved, but.I will keep their families in my thoughts & prayers.

The one that was killed was right at 30. He was a good guy had his faults but a very kind man.

speed is a factor, but as drivers sharing the road one should be considerate enough to realize that you dont have to be 30 to have a motorcycle license and even at proper speed limits an impact on a bike is obviously going to be more detrimental than in a car. I do not know who is to blame in an ACCIDENT, but I do know Derrick is no longer with us and Corey is 18 years old, somebody's child, and the list goes on for accidents that could have been prevented with safer driving. With that being said, everyone should look twice Anyway, and you can shove your smartass comments in the midst of a tragedy right up your ass.

What the hell? How is it the driver of the car's fault that some dumbass on a motorbike was going upwards of 100 mph?

"Look twice save a life my ass". How about "Slow it down, don't be laid in the ground."?
