When you have a mega WALmart It means you have a good town base of low wage shoppers who need the low prices to live under the boot of of the low wage job creators that are the scurgeof the town .

People are always going to be impatient and in a hurry. In the heaviest traffic times of the day, I consistantly see rear-ender accidents in the most congested areas between KFC and Walmart. Your statement appears to imply that if people are "impatient or in a hurry" then somehow they basically 'get what they deserve'. Well I don't believe that, especially when injuries are involved.
i implied nothing of the sort.

5th main reason.....

I'd have to drive across the US to get there.
Though it might be fun to visit.
Perhaps on our way to Florida next summer.

You might want to drive around this county they have a saying,

Came on vacation, stayed because of probation...LOL

I've been here 20 years and still get your not from around are you?

After 20 years my roots are stuck, people aren't the friendliest of souls and that is a fact.
they are truly stuck in their ways, and for the most part I am OK with it or I would have moved.

Just keep your nose low, make sure you don't see the sex lights behind you and you might fair out alright....

1. Racial discrimination
2. Sexual orientation discrimination
3. Religious discrimination (anti- Muslim and anti- atheist to mention a few)
4. Lack of restaurants that provide fresh and organic food ; way too many fast food joints, which is why so many greenevillians are overweight, not enough options

<quoted text>You are 100% wrong about your restaurants, and apparently you haven't been here for too many years. Golden Corral opened here a few years ago in the location that is now a convenience market at the corner of 11E Bypass and Rufe Taylor Road. Dunkin Donuts is on the same piece of property. After Golden Corral closed, it became Mountain Mazda Mitsubishi.

Anyway, at one time Bonanza Steakhouse had a tremendous business in Greeneville. Within a couple of months after opening, Golden Corral ran them out of business. Golden Corral was packed for a few months until Ryan's opened. Ryan's ran Golden Corral out of business in a few short months. Greeneville is very fickle when it comes to restaurants. That probably adds to the reasons that some chains don't want to invest a couple million, only to leave with their tail between their legs, and a big financial loss within a year.
Bonanza went out of business before Golden craphole was established.
The chain food places out number the local places 7-1.
Sadly the good places to eat are not readily known to someone bypassing thru town ( bean barn, tiptons, the original tannery, the yummy place out near tusculum college whose name I always space to name a few)

<quoted text>Hey I'm not a hypocrite. I would love to have few good high end restaurants and micro breweries here so I too would not have to travel to JC or even down to Knoxville for a prime steak. But Benny Hill was right, the average folk around here are just not going to support such establishments. By the way get Benny Hill back on here, I really enjoyed conversing with him.
But if city growth is this issue ( attracting new residents, businesses) then catering to the likes of the particular demographic that you already have isn't a solid strategy.

This town needs to focus on what it needs to provide in order to attract folks from other areas if it want to be financially solvent, otherwise.... Well do I even need to finish the sentence?

Bonanza closed just as Golden Corral opened. I ate at Bonanza one time, and I ate at Golden Corral here one time. I ate at Golden Corral in J.C. one time, and I thought that it was pretty good. I have never eaten at Ryan's. Mrs. Benny Hill will not eat where food is out in the open for the public to spit on and finger. I figure that the public won't do anything worse to the food than the kitchen help hasn't already done.

not that many people in gville are overweight. Most of the population are on pills and/or meth which makes u loose weight and teeth and hygiene.

Most? as in what 1/3, 1/4, 1/2?

North, south, east, west, central part?

We keep seeing the same ones, over and over that doesn't make it Most, it makes it like any other city/town in the USA...

If the HAWK ran Greeneville then everyone would want to come here and prosper under his wise gaze. The town would blossom with new businesses and happy shoppers all under his bountiful and loving leadership!

Maybe we need the HAWK for mayor!

I vote for Hawk . I hope he's on topix and sees all of the internet slander and how you boring greeneville people have tried to destroy his name. I've said it before you need a class on etiquette, just because you don't like someone's views you shouldn't destroy their name on the internet.

That would be like if u owned a business and a business didn't do business with you , would you destroy that business on topix or would you do business with the ones that started the trouble just to keep your name out if it all ????? Surely not . Don't come on here destroying our town of Greeneville either !
