Well, if this wheel tax gets shoved through without a vote, if someone will help me figure out about getting some petitions signed... I'll volunteer to do what I can. I've not been involved in a petition drive before, so I would need guidance on what constitues a legal petition.. I can't tell you how many people I've seen the past week are all asking about a petition and wanting to sign it...I'm in. And, the rest of you need to get involved too and not just sit on Topix and bitch about it. That's why those fools have such a cavalier attitude about the citizens.. they dont' care what we think- that's obvious.

I heard the Arrwood guy running for mayor is going to speak at the commission meeting against the wheel tax. If it goes through, he is going to help cooridinate a petition drive. He said he is familiar with it from when the same thing happened in Washington County.

Okay, thanks. And again I say this because it's worth repeating.... get involved in our elections. I have been involved in them before.. it is very interesting first of all and secondly, it's nice to feel like you are actually doing something for a change...if more people would show up and volunteer their time for their candidate, the azzclowns might actually believe they are going to be held accountable. I don't care who you are... you can go door to door and pass out campaign literature and meet your peeps, make phone calls.. type stuff they need... show up at the fundraisers and be supportive.. there are a lot of ways that you can contribute.

I don't trust politicians who make promises.

What are you going to do? Not vote?

You know Broyles and Crum are both in there now and neither are worth anything.

Looks like these fools finally wised up and realized that it would inure to their detriment to cram this tax through..

I am amazed at how closely most small town governments, including our own, closely mirrors that of the federal government. We have politicians who once elected, become drunken with power and the larger the government grows, the harder it is to stop. Once spending levels increase, you will never see anyone who can fathom cuts. The majority of voters would have opposed a property tax increase and would have preferred our local officials construct an effective level of cuts, but no, they shoved the property tax increase down our throats. Government is out of control at all levels. It's much like a snake and the best way to kill a snake is to cut its head off. I think government needs the same action - massive cuts and elimination of programs.

Raising the wheel tax is the only way to get tax money from Indian Hills, Blue Springs Village, Heather wood, Greeneville Terrace, etc. They pay no taxes except on Steel Reserve and Tahoes. At least we can get something from them every time that they visit buy here pay here. They always ditch those cars when they get behind or they run from the law.

Arwood done an excellent job in his speech to the commission. The only problem is this leaves us with another property tax increase , because these folks are not going reduce the empires they have created over the past few years.
We need to support the effort a few people are making to get Home Rule established. This would allow the people to not only vote on tax increases but also on Kirks position

Better yet, check out today's paper that listed the names of the people (6 I think) that voted for the wheel tax.. Those are the people that should be voted out of office as soon as they are up for re-election. Let's start there.
