when government needs money , why is the only solution to raise some type of tax? do they ever consider where they can cut when only a few are getting the benefits? i have to live on what i make, why can't they?

I heard that they just gave quite a few of the highers ups big raises..$4,000 type raises. Don't know if it's true, but it would be surprising. They are real good about giving raises to themselves and their buddies (who already make a boatload of money compared to the tax payer), but want to cut service hours and make the peons pay. It is Bullshit to try to push through a wheel tax when the bas&ards upped our property tax a little over a year ago.. This is outrageous. I hope the people of Greene County are going to get up off their asses and prevent this from happening and, and vote these lard-assed out next term. Get today's paper and read about it on the front page..

I would like to see fewer cars driving around with red used car dealer tags. They don't pay wheel taxes. I know of 5 cars with red tags that are driven everyday. Why do they get to use these tags when they were designed for test drives only?

I'd vote for the wheel tax... better than higher property taxes - spreads the pain around a little more...

You are the kind of person they love. Shouldn't have to raise anything. They just did last year. They got plenty. Just spent it in raises.

The board then voted 5-2, with Austin and Johnson opposed, to pave the entire driveway and parking lot and to accept Summers Taylor's bid of $58,500.

County has no money but it can pave a driveway and parking lot at Chuckey Doak?

Oh, it was the Seay, Mullins and Bird (I think as best I can recall) who thought raising the wheel tax is a wonderful idea. I don't think they are presenting it in a vote again though from what I read.. Did ya'll read this? It seems like they are trying to do it by some sort of executive type Order or some crap.. I need to go back and reread the article. Folks, you better wise up.. these cretins think they do just whatever they want, whenever they want.... these people believe they are more intelligent and smarter than most people.. that's the problem. The only solution they can come up with is raise taxes. If they are that damn stupid or unimaginative, they should be voted out when we can.

They're living it up at our cost. They might as well just come break in our houses and steal what they want.

Same thing except what they're doing is considered legal!

I wouldnt be surprised if Scrounger is right... this is a very shady group of people running our county whose biggest problem is that they are a bunch of self-aggrandizing idiots.

wheel tax will be raised and also the property taxes, what are we going to do about these people running our town. People are making a choice, do I buy food for my family or do I give it to the school board for them to use the way they want to

If I understand what I read, they can vote it in themselves unless they get 10K signatures on a petition for a referendum. For them to vote it in, they have to get a majority vote during two consecutive meetings, June 17 and July 17. So if a petition is to be circulated, it needs to get going.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about my interpretation.

I wouldn't correct you if I knew you were wrong.
