My choice is the Model 19 Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum with
a 4 inch barrel.

Nothing like the sound of a slide action on a 870 Remington, thief or intruders worst nightmare. Especially when you are sliding a 3 and a half inch magnum into it, sounds like you are loading a bazooka.

Any gun that don't jam.

I like my fearsome spring-loaded dart gun. You stick one of those rubber suction cuppped missiles onto an intruders nose and they just cease to be threatening. Really.

All around a 9mm. In the house,a variety of choice. In the shop,a nice little sawed off 12 gauge.

I would say a 12 gauge for home defense. If you are particularly looking for a pistol, it comes down to personal preference. Mine is a Springfield XD .40

You boys would run like a jack rabbit if someone was trying to bust into your house or trailer.

So does a sign on your door that says, simply, "Smile!"

My brake pedal will do that, and isn't nearly as loud.

I see we must have a gun hater on here with all the "nuts" signs. Probably a thief who wishes they would outlaw them....lol

I have had one for 3 or 4 years. The Federal buckshot loads are my favorite .410 round for it. They pattern a lot closer than you'd think. With #4 shot, it scatters to the winds, but I don't use those at all now.

A Smith & Wesson .380 to carry and various other types at home. I may be the oldest person on here to actually carry and I know how to use it. I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6 ! I've had a permit for 10 years but have carried all of my life. Why should the criminal have the advantage? Never shot anyone and hope I never have to, but I would if forced to do so.

I collect 1911s, most say Colt on the slide. I'm an older gentleman and went target shooting with a friend last month. I very quickly learned that .45acp and 10mm now present me with slow, inaccurate follow-up shots. My friend's Glock 17 in 9mm however proved a joy to shoot. I'm not totally sold on the Glock, but plan to go with 9mm. New gun magazines show some pistols, including Glock, FN and HK being ready for the mounting of a holographic scope. New equipment for old eyes.
