<quoted text>Actually county classrooms have a smaller classrom than city schools. You city school folk have the money, but you dont have the up close teaching that goes on in county students. Woudnt you love it if you had 10-15 students to teach instead of 25-30?
City school kids are more educated now. Just imagine how much more they would know if this actually happened.

Anon, you must be ignorant. I went to a small county elementary school. We had the best student-teacher ratio ever possible. Of the eighth-graders from that elementary school who entered high school during my year and graduated, there was 1 entrepreneur, 2 nurses, 2 accountants, 1 guidance counselor, and 1 safety specialist. I don't see the word FACTORY in those job descriptions. Besides, there is no harm in one who maintains a factory job. It is a needed trade. Those people are earning an honest living. Some of them accrue better wages than clerical positions. Take Parker Hannifin's wages vs. the county clerical offices. Those ladies would love to obtain the wages, bonuses, and benefits provided to the employees.
If this is what Topix is coming to, it really does need to be reviewed. It should be only a forum where people can exchange knowledgeable information or opinions about topics which are important to everyone.
I suggest, instead of exchanging whether the city or county is best, why don't you "concerned citizens" focus all of that time and attention trying to provide a safer environment and education for ALL children.

Don't hate me for chiming in on a public forum on a thread that was designed to pit county and city against each other, wanna hate? Direct it at the author of the thread. As always go die in a fire.

Should of sent Kids to science hill high school. They would have a good education. Unlike all these schools in Greene County. Science hill high school has won awards for being the best academic school and the tri cities. Next to Dobyns Bennett high school.

Once again here you go with your asinine rhetoric and sarcasm. The statement was provided from a number of professionals from my eighth grade class(which you are unaware of the total number) and solely from the ones I have been in contact with. Therefore, it is impossible for you to draw any conclusions other than that which is assumed. You know what is taught about the word assume don't you?
Why don't you redirect your energy to something positive for children instead of attempting to discredit the county school system? If all who spew such ill repute could refocus that energy into productive elements for the society which you continually discombobulate, the world would become a much better place for ALL children.

Personally I think all kids are worthless... I had about 10 or 12 awhile back and couldn't get anyone to buy them... I thought about hanging on to them until the economy turned around, but the upkeep would've just ate up any profit I would've made so I just had them put down... And before anyone gets pissy, don't worry I was very humane...

The reason there is less money in the county school system for officers or anything else is b/c the people in the county do not want to pay higher taxes for anything period. When taxes were raised last time, the "for" votes were almost all city residents who put money into both the city and county schools. The "no" votes were from county voters! Please don't talk about the high and mighty people who live in the city schools district. I live here so my kids can go here w/o us paying tuition 4x over. I voted for the increases for both systems. Talk to your neighbors about why there is a lack of funding in the county schools.

You are exactly correct!!
Education is associated with $$- there is not much in the county and those kids do suffer for it (not all, but some). Parent's are so into pills and free checks and food stamps (not to say some city parent's aren't doing the same thing). Look up statistics and let the numbers speak for themselves. I see NO parent waiting in line overnight to get their own child into a county school.... We see a long line of parents wanting their tuition paid child into CITY schools. AND-- BTW-- DR. STROUD IS THE BOMB- SHE IS ON TOP OF HER GAME IN EVERY WAY. I've been a parent in the school system for almost 20 years and things are ONLY getting better in the city- can the county say these words?? Don't think so. Don't be offended- if you are so mad about the statistics, do something to change them. Be the difference you wish to see.

I really don't know what your point is. Or what your trying to say. Call me what you will,:) I will not argue with you. I wasn't even talking to you. Your pretty much arguing with yourself at this point.
Never been a teacher myself, but the CITY SCHOOLS taught me when using the word 'your' as you did above, that is not correct!!
What you meant to say was "you're" when using it in the context you have...... stings a little bit to be corrected I guess?
& Pull out your 3rd grade textbook- we all know you are still using it- if you haven't smoked up all the pages just yet.
Also, you did it not once, but twice in your posting.

I get, I get it---- it stings to be corrected. & BTW- yes, you did use it incorrectly. Nobody ever said you were an English Major, but from the sound of your "username" - you don't seem to carry the brightest bulb in the classroom, hmmm???

If you're (ie. you are) going to respond on here, at least make it look like you absorbed your own education.
