Drugs most certainly are a problem. Drug testing needed to be mandatory a long time ago. Burden on what budget? Dr. Kirk does not know the meaning of the word. The way teachers are coming on topix demonizing the parents and kids is quite scary. Definitely some with evil, and perhaps drugged, minds.

IF your a parent of a student.(tax payer) YOU can bring a lawsuit against the school board for neg....this is a step to have memebers REMOVED before an election... who is to say your child wont be NEXT.. you get enough parents to sue the school system yes they all would have to be REMOVED. you really think the school would stand behind them and LOSE hundreds of thousands of dollars after the televised view of them all being ASS`s except the lady whom walked out who did her job. and apparently all the rest was concerned more of who called the PRESS than fix the problem.... an the ODDASTIY of Baileyton school thanking the school board and BROWN BS.... I had hoped it would not come to a lawsuit because of the loss of revenue but if that is what it takes, so be it. I did not know that Baileyton thanked the school board. I did see some teachers on Facebook thanking school board members for supporting them. I don't think they understand how ridiculous this makes them all look! If they need school board members that are pro-teacher and anti-parent that just proves the system is broken and we have a problem. I want to see a school board that isn't pro or anti anyone and is there for what is best for the kids! The kids best interest is what the school board should be focusing on and ANYONE who has immediate family working for the school system has NO business being on the board. And perhaps anyone with a child currently in the school system shouldn't be allowed to serve in order to be completely fair.

One would think the educators would want the bad apples, who make the good ones look bad, punished or gone period. As of right now, my opinion is that they are all about covering each other's backside.

If parents want to sue they have that right. But if they think teachers are over paid they are in for an awakening when they realize what the lawyers will want them to fork over. And they will have a hard time proving any board member other than Johnson acted inappropriately. What was shown in the news was isolated moments. Take it to before a judge and WJHL may be asked to turn over the entire tape. Then there will be no question of who acted inappropriately. Maybe some of the board members could sue for harassment. Also if you had read the article the reason the school members were being thanked was because it was School Board Appreciation Week. This is a yearly occurance.

In fact, why don't these parents quit taking their argument to social media and just sue instead of talking about it. Lawyers have to feed their families too. My guess is its because the audience is too small in a court room. That coupled with the fact that they have no case. You may not mind making a fool of yourself for the world but the rest of us do care. People see this crap and the rest of Greeneville are guilty by association. I for one don't want to be judged to be a media loving drama queen just because I live in Greeneville. You guys were kicked off one social media site and asked to quit commenting there. For the rest of our sakes just shut up and sue if you got a case. If not just shut up. The matter is resolved.

I personally hope there is no law suit but if there is, what makes you think it would be over how the board acted at the meeting? That's just one little side note to this whole mess. Also, I have not read one post saying teachers are over paid. However, Just because most of us would like to pay them more doesn't mean they get a pass on how they act. A lot of government workers, especially those in social services, should get paid more but they don't get a pass on accountability. Everyone has the option change careers so I don't want to hear it! Last, the school board is elected and the public has a right to talk about whether they are reflecting the will of the people who elected them. Only a handful of posters even mentioned any of them by name! They knew they were entering a public office when they ran! Discussions of this sort is not harrassment in my book and they always have the option to resign if being an elected official isn't what they thought it would be!

If Baileyton School is thanking the school board as part of a yearly tradition of School Board Appreciation Week, that is fine. I hadn't read it anywhere and was just conversing with the other poster. I stand by what I said about teachers thanking the board members for "being in the trenches with them." I don't think we need people serving that are pro or against anyone. This is the communities fault for electing people with a conflict of interest! So now, if the community really cares, and I think they do, the community needs to start talking about how to fix it.

And just so you know, I don't have a kid in the school system, I wouldn't know the mothers from Adam if they walked up to me, and I don't even know the names of the teachers/assistant principal in question. I will, however, discuss this whenever I want because I do care about the kids in this community! Only a fool would think the community is guilty by association of anything for caring enough to discuss and have an opinion about what's going on!

As far as the social media site that this topic of discussion was kicked off of....the moderator does not want heated topics discussed there or so I'm told. That's the site moderator's right and I understand he deletes topics of discussion regularly that he deems to be too heated for his site. That doesn't detract from the validity of this discussion or anyone's opinions.

Are you for real? Do you not read before commenting? What makes me think it would be over how the school board acted? See supra! If you were to actually have read TOM's comment he is talking about bringing a lawsuit against the school board for "neg". Whatever that means. The public (or more accurately 4 or 5 attention seeking mothers) do have a right to talk. But with that talk should come responsibility. They have talked this out. They are now beating a dead horse. If they think they have a case then by all means take it to court and out of the media. That's exactly what they would do if their main goal wasn't attention. The fact of the matter is that they have no case and they don't care. Resolution is not their goal. Attention is. The proof is in black and white. Right under your nose.

I think sometimes part of a conversation is lost in an Internet forum. Yes, I read his comment and yours. With your responses, YOU were trying to make this whole issue out to be about how the board was portrayed on TV and then went on to rant about teachers salaries (which no one has ever mentioned), drama seeking parents, guilt by association and the matter being resolved.

For the public, and there are way more people talking about this than what you would like to believe, nothing has been resolved. Has the school system put a policy in place to deal with child being abused by a teacher? Has there been a policy put in place for a parent to get timely responses back from school administrators? Has a policy been put in place that will prohibit a teacher discussing a complaint with a child without his parent present? I mean really, has it been resolved?

Agree! I'm tired about hearing about this also. If these parents thought they have a case then I don't think we would be hearing about it all over the internet. I also agree that fewer people think the board acted improperly than they care to admit. Maybe the board needs to review its policies. I don't know. I'm not aware of what the policies are. But let's give them time to review them and change them if needed. I'm all for keeping a parent informed, but with emploment there are privacy laws. All I know is that any time I have had an issue it was taken care of immediately. However I didn't push for anyone to be fired. I haven't always agreed with the teachers my children had but I taught them to respect them. If there was an issue I would go talk to the teacher/aide as an adult.

I'd say anyone tired of hearing about it can navigate away from the discussions at anytime. I don't think anyone is forcing you to be here and add your two cents. I will say the school needs time to review and change it's policies. I just think it doesn't hurt to keep it fresh and make sure they do it.

My goodness. I've never seen people so upset . Must be afraid more dirty deeds are about to be uncovered if people keep talking. All the more reason to keep it going. FYI, I'm not a student so attempts to ridicule me have no effect. Makes me want to talk more. Nice try though.

No one is upset except the mothers who are crying "bully". I believe what the posters are saying is quit talking and start sueing if you think you have a case. I don't think anyone is "afraid" of anything being uncovered. If there is anything to uncover it will happen in court. Also no one is trying to ridicule you so quit being paranoid. You are doing a pretty good job of ridiculing yourself. Keep talking this up all you want. The more you talk the more ridiculous you sound. If your talking was at all successful in uncovering "dirty deeds" it would have happened by now. But if talking makes you happy knock yourself out.

No one is upset except the mothers? Really? I'm not one of the parents and I don't give a crap if they sue. I hope they don't have to but I do hope that the public puts enough pressure on to where no one else has to go to the lengths they have had go to get the school system to respond to them, let alone do what they should. It's unfortunate the public has to get pissed and want policies put in place for things that should be just a matter of common courtesy and doing their job. You fool yourself if you believe that people all over this county aren't really disappointed in the school system right now.

I'm surprised that the school system hasn't given a directive for you "defenders" to shut up. You have done nothing but make the school system look like a bunch of holier-than-thou, arrogant, hypocrites! I think it's funny because it has just proven everyone's point and I'm glad for you all to keep talking but don't think for a minute that you or "over it" will come here and tell me to shut up about anything. You are not the boss of me and I'm not a kid.

I don't know if there are any other "dirty deeds" are out there to come to light WJHL certainly reported more parents are starting to contact them. I will say this, anything covered up eventually is exposed. The only reason anyone would want people to hush is because they are afraid of what else is about to come out. If there is nothing else to worry about, you guys can rest easy and even navigate away from this discussion that is upsetting you so much.
