Can anyone explain to me how cruising was stopped?

stuff like who was behind stopping it?
Was a law voted on and passed?
Is this law in a book somewhere?
Or did the mayor and chief of police just up and say no more cruising? So it's not really a law?

I understand parking lots, because that belongs to the business, but public roads, that we pay for. How can they say we can't drive on them as much as we want?

Thanks for any information

Not specific to Greeneville, but would not be surprised if the base issue was somehow obstruction of traffic on public streets.

93/94 ish
Mayer Love
City ordinance
They tried for a long time to put an end to it and finaly got enuf support to get it pushed thru.I was a reular and was even ticketed for it a couple of times. IIRC alot of the argument was that traffic was too heavy for emer vehicles to get thru to the old Laughlin hosp.Since the hosp is now closed I would think that arguement would be null and void.

I guess the Board of Mayor and Alderman had to pass the ordinance. Rich people tell the Mayor what they want and the Mayor tells the alderman what to vote in. Then all their pockets get a little heavier.

The ordinance should be in a book somewhere. Go to My Greeneville Facebook page and ask Robbie Britton, back in the day he tried to put a stop to it or something.

All those store owners got paid back for it, didn't they? Pretty much killed business on Tusculum Blvd.

It would be interesting to see if he would be willin to get involved in such a thing now. That was proof to me that a petition didnt accomplish $hit if the right people want something done.I signed at least 2/3 different ones to stop the ordinance.
