It seems like our little airport gets a grant every year or atleast every other year from the TDOT and the federal government. Will someone who has lived here forever please explain who exactly benefits from our local airport? I have never been there nor do I know anyone who uses it. Is it freight or small planes or public?

Its a crock, nobody in Greene Co. uses it but the rich. They bought up land and put good people out of their homes so they could add to the length so Scott could land his jet there. How many businesses in Gvegas owns a corporate jet? Taxpayers flitting the bill, again, for the rich.

There used to be a sign at the end of the runway off Whitehouse Road showing that money was provided from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Obama's free cash / out tax money). Amazing how liberals hate the rich, but have no issue when the liberals squander their money.

The airport supports Greeneville's massive industrial base. Ya mean you don't see the UPS and FEDX transports landing there every day? No? Oh, neither do I....Greeneville's airport is as useful as teets on a boar hog.

Several airports in Tennessee were granted grants but that's not granting Scott's airport was granted more money than the other grants.

Granted that's the truth, Scott shouldn't take that greater than other grant money that he was granted for granted.

I have worked at the airport for 3.5 years since i was 16. Its a great place. We do aircraft rental, sell aviation gas, jet fuel, and we do rental cars and flight instruction. We have 65 plus or minus private aircraft based here and the Gulfstream jet that is used for corperate travel and they use it for charter services. High school students in JROTC programs get free flights once or twice a year, young eagles flights for kids 7-17, and many companies from all over use the airport. Some are Austin Powder, john deere, wallmart, state of tennessee, highway patrol, parker hannifin, wings air rescue and wellmont or which are the 2 medical helicopters just to name a few. I have even seen a jet with taco bell no kidding. Just because someone flies does not mean they are rich. I am 19 and make 1000$ a month and keep 2 small planes i give rides to friends and pay my bills. Think about that befor you talk bad on the airport. It has been here since 1969 and needs some repairs. A citys airport is the most importamt main street for a city if you understand. The city and county own the airport and there are no drugs that go through our airport. I am there 6-7 days a week and i assure you their is nothing out of the ordenary. Come visit us, we are open every day. 7:30 till 5:30. Take a flight or just sit on and look at the planes. If you want to ask me a question message me on facebook. Dillon Hopson and visit Greeneville Aviation Services on facebook. Flying is hard to describe to someone its just something you have to experience. Much diffrent from an airliner. You can go where you wanna go, see what you wanna see, and you have power to get in and around thoes white fluffy things up there and its just out of this world, they are called clouds.

. I dont know how it would be cost effective with tricities and knoxville so close. A small charter service would be nice with a small single engine or twin engine cessna or something like that but with all the rules and regs put out by the FAA its very difficult to start any flying service or business.

Anyone noticed the latest work that is going on? They are totally re-routing airport road. The new road will run on the Kingsport Hwy side of the current airport road and I would assume that 300+ acres had to be purchased to allow for the re-route. In addition, I can't imagine the cost of the clearing of land and paving. What a waste of taxpayer dollars!
