Contact the union headquarters via email. Local 796 don't exist anymore. They will put you in touch with the pension plan administrator. Philips "sold" off the pension plan to a third party for management. I've got the info somewhere in my papers at home but the union headquarters gave me the contact info about 2 years ago.

Man,
Look at this board- aint no wonder the plant closed. Whatever happened to doing an honest day's work for an honest day's pay? You think the Japanese would have put up with the kinda crpp that went on at Maggotbox Tennessee?

If Americans are unemployed, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Buncha losers..

Way back Magnavox was a fun place to work I know. My Mamaw has told me some stories. They used to get drunk on the line on Fridays. She'd take her bottle of liquor in. That's been 20-25 years ago, though, I guess. I was a teen at the time she'd tell us about it. There's lots of other stories, but I can't remember them. She could sure tell ya a bunch.
they couldn't make a good product if they were drunk they should have been fired

I remember a woman named Beverly that left at supper to go to the liquor store without clocking out. Some dude kidnapped her and made her drive him somewhere. He got out of the car and she came back to work quite a bit late. We didn't really believe her story until the next day when the story was in the paper. Good times.

Yep I worked there and I remember quite a few crazy things. Was at plant 3 in the early 90s..I know there was a lot of sex that went on in and outside the place..drugs I am sure to and I remember around the holidays some people would bring in punch with a little extra kick in it and buckets of moonshine cherries..they would hook tvs up to watch and people would have big boom boxes jaming out all night why they worked. I was real young when i started there 17 i got on through school...i used to have alot of fun there though...some good laughs...i remember one gross dude used to always pick his nose n he would wipe his boogers on the back of the tvs it was pretty gross..lol think they finally fired the guy.
Is this the same guy that picked his nose and took his boogers apart to examine them?

I worked there for a very short time around 40the years ago. Didn't know about all the stuff mentioned on this thread. I hated the job, worked on the atarie, hated using plyers and twisting wires on circut boards. It has been a long tough road to get to where I am today but I am thankful for the opportunities I've had. To all who lost jobs there, I have great empathy for you. I have supervised people who previously worked there and have nothing but good things to say about their work ethic.

Yep...It was a good place to work back in the day..
Started there back in 1982...Pluging wires in the sets on a final line..Lots of wires...lol..Plugged them till my fingers would bleed. Then taped them up with this green tape an plugged some more..
Still miss the place an the people...It was a good job for the time..And they did build alot of good TV sets..I still have two of them going stronge...
That place provided jobs for alot of good people an hepled keep their families fead.....Shame it went away..!!!

My dad retired from there...one of the lucky ones. I've heard some hilarious stories about pranks that went on at Magnavox over the years
