no. The county commissioners had to ok that.Who was it that allowed waste dept employees to work a 32 hour work week and get paid for 40 hours?(That was because they couldn't give them raise.) Didn't that directive come from the top?

Wrong my friend. The county commissioners were mostly surprised and some were angered when this was announced. This was the director over solid waste and the mayor making this decision. does anyone out there want to put in 32 hours and draw your regular 40 hour salary? that's exactly what the solid waste folks are doing now. Seems they installed more efficient equipment and didn't need so many man-hours. so instead of laying off a few like a regular business would, they just cut back the hours of everyone. But hey, no one wants a pay cut so they just increased the pay by about 20% to make up the difference. Sweet...

well, if the commissioners know about it now-whoever allowed this to happen- why haven't the commissioners done something about it???

Exactly...isn't there a commissioner who works for the waste dept....the good ole boy network exists. If I was a county employee in another dept, I'd be requesting a 32 hour work week and get paid for 40 hours. This is full blown discrimination. Oh but wait, don't rock the boat, right?
