You are most likely seeing Venus, after the moon it is the brightest light in the sky at night.

A friend just got a telescope & we are gonna start star gazing. Is there another planet which can usually be seen with the naked eye? Maybe it's the North Star now that I'm thinking about it. I haven't been to Bays Mountain's planetarium in many years. Do you enjoy studying the constellations?

It was nothing. I repeat, what you saw was a mutual hallucination. This is not an attempt to cover up an experiment gone awry. The zombies you may see have nothing to do with the "shining light". If you do so happen to see the walking dead, it is a mere coincidence. The viral plague has NOT already spread... if there were a plague, which there isn't.
Carry on.
No light.
Ok? Ok.

You can see five planets with unaided eye, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Venus is the third brightest object in the sky after the Sun and Moon. A lot of people mistake Venus for a star. Next is Sirius, the Dog Star. Polaris or the North Star is really not that bright it is just surrounded by a lot of dimmer stars so it tends to stick out, it is about the 50th brightest. A real mind blower. A million earths could fit inside the sun, however 9,261,000,000 Suns could fit in the largest known star VY Canis Majoris or 7,000,000,000,000,000 Earths. Just shows how insignificant we really are. I have always been fascinated with space, people tell me I have a lot of it between my ears.
