I'm guilty of it. My old friend was on food stamps and I gave her $50 for $50 in stamps. Yeah, it was wrong of me to do, but oh well. She needed some diapers and gas and I wanted more bang for my buck. I got more groceries than I usually could because of no tax. Catch me if you can!!!

What about a mom that sells her kids food stamps to pay her probation every month.
Poor kids never have food.

Your post Yep is why I think they should just cut off everyone under 65... make sure the kids have food to eat... to hell with the lazy druggy deadbeat parents...The government would have more money by stopping food stamps and setting up feeding areas... if you were really hungry you could go there for a meal.. make sure the kids in school get two good meals (not the crap they try to pass as food now), and send something for the kids to eat as they leave school. I couldn't give a rat's ass if the lazy parents starved.. hunger is a great motivator.

sterilize the useless breeding trash. put the kid in state care. and let the mom's and dad's die. the only good drug addict or alcoholic is a dead one. no one would care and loose sleep over this method. the state and country would be better off. no more munching off the state or government. would also help control population.

For the longest time I was all in favor of drug testing people in order to get assistance FS & WF but here is what I found out and why I now don't support it cause it is a bigger burden to taxpayer's it's not a solution but more a problem.

They passed this very law in a county in Florida in order to get assistance you must pass random drug tests and after 1 year of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for the drug test kits, the money to pay staff to do the tests & the extra costs of the staff having to get the people in to take them by getting the recipients to a clinic/paper work etc.

It really adds up in the overall cost. In 1 report an official said when people was given a date to come in to take a test 90% of those people suddenly had no way to get to the appointment. so like our local DHS here they provide transportation help like the van that will take people to dr. appointments that added even more to the overall costs.

Well guess how many people failed the tests that was given in the first year 1 yup 1 man failed out of all the people in the county I can't recall how many they said was tested but it was like 30 or 40 thousand I think it was just one county or city in florida so Here is why it did not/or will work and just 1 guy failed, the test is only to screen for street drugs just your schedule 1 drugs like crack, coke, meth, marijuana etc. The people & the majority of fraud costing ones that are selling/trading their Food stamps the drug of choice are pills.

Pills are prescriptions there for are not in the screening process and most people who are addicts get a script and even if the screen would include pills they get a pass for having a legit script because there are some who have scripts who don't fraud the system the seller's and ones abusing the system abuse what they get from a legit script run out of pills before they can get their next months script filled so they then use their Food dollars to buy more pills. All the states are seeing this and abandoning this law. So until we figure out another way to stop abusers of the system all we can do is hope if someone see's it they report it.

First I am a Pharm. Tech and your right I mis-spoke that by not saying the tests don't screen for opiates your right they do. The drug test screens for opiates but not by how much it's just a pos. for they are there or a neg. if they are not detected & if you have a legit script and can prove you have one (most people do have one or can get one by telling their doctor they need one so they don't lose their assistance)a failed test won't matter, you just have to show proof of why you have opiates in you system. If they find opiates and telling them yeah I have a script for that they move on that is why only 1 guy failed or was revoked from getting his assistance.

It is the same at any job too When I broke my wrist and was taking pain meds and given a random drug test I told them I am on pain meds so I will test positive for opiates they said as long as I can prove I have a script I would get a pass. The only way they could get those who are abusing pain meds is if they give a blood test to see if the amount of opiates in your blood was at the right levels matching your prescription strength. Those screening tests cost more than a piss test there for your not gonna see this law working it just will cost too much verses the amount saved when only catching 1 or 2 people. I wish there was a way to find fraudulent people but as of yet they are too sneaky and good at getting away with taking all they can from a weak system!

Nail bed tests an I know they would be less expensive than giving some dead beat assistance for a life time.
