<quoted text>If they never put tax increase votes on a public ballot, then all us stupid people would have to pay whatever these people decide to raise taxes too. We are not the only county that didn't vote to raise wheel taxes. A lot have voted them down. What was stupid, was voting in a wheel tax to start with. Any time you vote a tax in, it is subjected to be raised from here on out. No tax is completely fair. I'm sorry us stupid people aren't as smart as you.
We elect them to make decisions like that. That's why we are a representative republic. If you let the public vote on taxes, there wouldn't be any taxes

I don't think it is proper for someone to vote on their own pay.

Democracy isn't a perfect form of government, but it's the best around. Would you rather be under totalitarian or communist forms of government?

No I would not. I'm saying that with the economy like it has been for the last 3 years, this isn't the time to raise any tax. I'm actually fortune enough that it won't effect my standard of living. Do you not think that a teacher who would get a raise from a YES vote to raise taxes, should abstain from voting?

I think that there needs to be some cuts to some unnecessary jobs within the school system, but as far as raises for teachers I am definitely for that. Teaching is one of the most important jobs anywhere and they need to be compensated accordingly. They are preparing our future generations.

You still didn't answer my direct question. Anyway, I have one more question for you. Now be honest. Are you or any of your direct family members teachers? I agree about teachers needing more money, but not in this economy. Myself and a lot of others have had to cut back. Even my employer has had it rough. I'm grateful I have a job. So I'm not looking or expecting a raise anytime soon.

I am not a teacher. I don't think they should refrain from voting either. If you didn't have people in education with influence on voting, the county commission and their constituents would have them making minimum wage. Teaching is a skilled position that is attempting to shape our kids for the future. I think that under performing teachers should be held accountable and the money being spent on athletics could be better spent on hiring and keeping good teachers. More often than not, if the teacher is performing well, they will offered more money by another system.

I'll tell you what they haven't done! They all promised to promote job growth when they were campaigning and I haven't seen a bit. I think we should really consider voting them all out and starting over.,. If you could get enough people to run to vote them all out. Nobody wants it unless they are using it for a stepping stone

Someone decided to let "some" employees in the waste dept work a 32 hour work week and pay them for 40 hours. Why weren't taxpayers informed of this?

I live in the horse creek area and am not sure who my county commissioner is. They apparently aren't flaunting too much out here. Which ones are using it as a stepping stone?

I don't know them either. I see some in the paper sometimes. The county sent one to a school somewhere for county leaders in Knoxville the other day.
