Not all unions are bad. The UAW is a failure but that doesn't reflect on other unions.

LOL, Sure I agree totally, COMRADE.

I bet you are a teacher or cop, or some other fatcat government employee collecting Union benefits.

The fact is, the UAW's failed vote was a referendum on what Tennesseans think about Unions, period. We don't like them, we don't want them, we can take care of ourselves, and it is nobody's business but ours. Not government's business, not a Union's business.

Unions are on the decline everywhere in America. Mostly because the majority of Union members and supporters today are all unemployed, and on foodstamps, welfare and disability.

But secondly, because hard-working Americans realize that Unions are a threat to America. Unions protect people who are poor workers, Unions fight to give pay and benefits to those who don't deserve them, and that reflects badly on the entire workforce. The biggest example of that is teachers and other government employees.

Time for the gravy train to end.

Pray.

None of those above apply to me. I agree with all your other points though. My job wouldn't be worth having if not for union and we are nationwide. Right-to-work states do not apply.

If you are working a dead-end job at a dead-end company then that is your own fault, if you don't like the conditions or arrangements then you need to quit and find something better with another company. And most importantly, it is not the responsibility of everyone around you to help pay for your Union benefits and your other entitlements.

Liberal deadbeats like you are the ones who elected King commie Darkie muslim to the throne, so that he would give you gifts at the expense of people like me.

Wrong again. And although most unions vote democrat I DID NOT vote for obummer either term. He has costed thousands of jobs in my field of work and associated fields associated thereto.

You must work for the railroad. At one time the unions were useful, but now they are just money hungry. Just look what the unions did around here with places like Hurd Lock and Magnavox. I have no use for unions.

<quoted text>It is finally becoming clear to me.

A proud Union member who hates Liberals like Obama. A proud Union member who doesn't really like Unions. A proud Union member who takes all the benefits of being in a Union, although he didn't want them in the first place.

I guess the reason for these clear contradictions is that you must be delusional or a hypocrite.

You think of yourself as the only card-carrying Union lackey in America who actually, truly, honestly deserves all those sweet Union benefits. Seriously, every other card-carrying Union lackey in this country is a freeloading slacker that doesn't deserve what they get; they voted themselves gifts at the company's expense.

But, of course, even though you are a card-carrying Union lackey yourself, none of that applies to you. Because you are the only one out of millions of Union lackeys that actually does an honest days work. Because, after all, you didn't support Obama like everybody else in the Union did.

And I bet you didn't even want to be in a Union in the first place, you were forced to sign up in order to do that job. Union membership is mandatory for you, like a coal miner. Before you went down in the mine, the Union bosses made you swear an oath of allegiance to the Democrats. But the Union bosses who administered the sacred Union oath weren't aware that YOU HAD YOUR FINGERS CROSSED BEHIND YOUR BACK IN CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION TO UNIONS.

LOL @ them!!!!

I bet you don't even work in a mine, I bet you are a front office man that goes home early everyday and still collects those Union benefits, too.

Wow that must suck. You didn't want to be in a Union to begin with, you didn't want all those cush benefits, but the company and the government forced you to take them. They forced you to take pay and vacation and healthcare when you didn't want them.

Wow, I commend you for sticking to your guns on this one. You are against all these things, against Liberalism, against Unions, but you allow yourself to profit by them anyway. Now that is the attitude of someone with conviction and personal responsibility.
Way overthinking this one. You wouldn't,as the rest of the general public doesn't understand how it works. And I'm not going to explain it. My union (s) originated from the need for safety enforcement and every letter written in blood. Now more so fighting the greed machine of a corporation devouring everything in sight for insane profits.

All teachers are not for unions nor are they all democrats. The union just takes money and promises to protect you. It didn't protect a central office supervisors job and she was the very one fussing as a principal for teachers dropping union membership. Teachers have hard jobs. They are given kids and must have them pass a test, be evaluated around the clock, be moms, dads, teacher, provide for them, etc. and possibly lose their job when a class can't do up to par on the test. How many other jobs are like this? Plus everyone thinks their hours and summers off are reason enough to not complain......well in order to stay ahead you must work past those hours in order to keep up, do better, and find activities to meet the common core since outdated books are of no use. Yes, the teachers you complain of will be finding other less stressful things to do and one that you can leave and not bring things home for. insurance is no reason to stay since they pay out the butt for it. You are wrong about teachers. I have lots of teacher friends.

I (surprisingly) agree with you MS. Does this union guy actually believe that somewhere in the secret by-law handshakes of every union that has ever been since the first 2 guys formed one, there is not some similarly worded justification for their right to stand up to Da Man?
Whether justified or not, your "Union" is just like all the rest.
My personal opinion is, thank god for those unions, because "Da Man" really would sell your soul for a nickel if you let him.

Amazed how the unions convince the worker how valuable they are, then suck the money from you to fuel their existence. They are not greedy, yet the corporation is. These labor unions define greed and corruption. You seem reasonable, so start to read a bit about how the unions operate, union versus non-union wages, etc.

Have any of you ever even been in a real union? ie;steelworkers, brotherhood of electrical workers......etc? I worked for a company,ah say,10 years ago. Welder. They offered BIG money for this region that in 90 days if we could do the work,we would be topped out (top hourly wage) we met, then exceeded the "standards" and were awarded NO raise. So,we brought the steelworkers in. Some of us are/were previous members. Negotiations ensued,an offer was made, and a vote was taken. The company made good on it's promise,if we DIDNT organize, and we received our wage increase. 3 years later they sold out (I had quit by then) and everyone lost wages/benefits. Had we organized, they would have to stuck by the contract and fair equal treatment for all.

Unions might have been a good thing once but they were taken over by the Democrat Party (Liberals) and now they are just a vote and money machine for them.

You are right sarge. At one time unions were useful and fought the thugs who were working for the big industrialist. Now they've become so big and corrupt, they turned into the thugs they once fought. Municipal unions are the worse, corrupt politicians give them what they want at the tax payers expense.

NO UNIONS and let's keep it that way.
You sound like an immature ten year old cry baby. So why don't you cry me a river you miserable Liberal douch. Seriously, if you don't like Tennessee then why don't you do us a favor and go lay down on railroad tracks.

There are thousands of people who live here in Tennessee who like this state just exactly the way it is. And there are thousands more people who are moving here everyday because of what Tennessee has to offer.

People like you contribute nothing to society. In fact, that is probably why you have such a vitriolic attitude, because you are jealous of other peoples' happiness.

I have lived in many other states before, and I can tell you for a fact that Tennessee's problems are minor when compared to other states. If people who live in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, or Arizona are looking down their noses at Tennesseans, then GOOD.

Tennessee is one of the best kept secrets in America, people in other states don't know how good life can be.

Such a shame. You actually made a good statement that I enjoyed reading but you had to work an assumption about someone's political affiliation in there. Too bad.
