Possibly, it wasn't her. Maybe it was someone who thought that it was highly inappropriate to slander and defamate her. I'm certain that she doesn't even look at this site unless someone tells her that her name is on it again... Let her live her life, this is ridiculous.

It really isn't all that hard to retrieve the identity of a poster. That is unless they know how to stay anonymous. But, if they are here posting this much ignorant garbage about others, they don't have that much going for them. If things being said here is causing ANYONE personal issues on day to day basis, you are more than likely entitled to compensation and a good bit of gratification. You just have to be able to disprove it.

It's only slander if it isn't true! And "defamate"? Maybe you meant "defame".

Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, traducement, slander (for transitory statements), and libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation a negative or inferior image.

Maybe if this "Liz" was famous, you just might be onto something Tab.

Where are you working now? Also, what is your real name? Just need to keep the playing fields even here.

• Any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person.

• defamation (of character) n. the act of making untrue statements about another which damages his/her reputation. If the defamatory statement is printed or broadcast over the media it is libel and, if only oral, it is slander. Public figures, including officeholders and candidates have to show that the defamation was made with malicious intent and was not just fair comment. Damages for slander may be limited to actual (special) damages unless there is malice. Some statements such as an accusation of having committed a crime, having a feared disease, or being unable to perform one's occupation are called libel per se or slander and can more easily lead to large money awards in court and even punitive damage recovery by the person harmed. Most states provide for a demand for a printed retraction of defamation and only allow a lawsuit if there is no such admission of error.

I do apologize, I meant defame.
The point is, you cannot PROVE your statements. In a court of law, Liz would not have to disprove anything. She would not be the one being prosecuted. The only thing she would need to prove is that you made the statements. She does not have to be "famous" per se either.
Public vs private defamation only constitutes
different outcomes. I am the one who had your last posts removed. I know Liz. I do not know her as well as you obviously think you do, however, I do know she is attempting to make a good life for herself. She is in school. Where her child is is none of your business. A lot of parents need help anymore and if she has family that will help her, who are you to judge and say it's wrong? It is better for a child to have a consistent routine and if being at Liz's grandparent's house is his norm, why change it.? It doesn't mean she isn't there, it doesn't mean that he doesn't stay with her, and honestly, I don't know where her son lives, or with whom. All I know is that this constant slander of Liz only shows that you, Tab, are jealous and have no self control. For Liz to be so "nasty"... I'm sure you'd run right back to this guy that all this seems to have stemmed from. It makes you look bad girl. Move on. Please.

I threw in the being famous thing because I thought you were correct in the way you worded it. So, defame = taking of fame???:)

It could go either way...I guess if negative attention on Topix is fame, then Liz should be making millions. I just wonder when enough is enough. ;(

Enough will be enough, when someone actually prosecutes over such issues. It has happened before and it isn't very hard to accomplish. Topix WILL hand over the ip address's used to post here, once law enforcement gets invlovled. It may take a while, but with enough evidence of WHO is posting, the hard part is done. As stated earlier, the one being prosecuted has to be able to prove what is being said is true. I have only hoped to see slander in my direction. I could use some spending cash!:)

It also doesn't help that when someone is getting bashed, the person comes onto topix and starts cursing them back and making threats. I do understand that it makes you want to though, so don't get me wrong. But, if you honestly want to stop the harassment, be smarter than the one you want to defeat.

That's why she isn't on here, and why she doesn't bother. I get on Topix when bored... My boredom just doesn't consist of bashing others. I saw a pic of this girl that's bashing.. Very pretty. Just wish she'd see that and stop this madness. Beauty cones from within and will ruin her on the outside if all this hatred isn't nixed.

I would even venture to say that there are lawyers out there that would take on cases such as this pro bono. Considering that it is so easy to prove that someone is on a public forum saying things that are RECORDED. It would nearly be an open and closed case I would think.

This time... And thanks for that. It just makes you look bad too.. And I don't think that's the case. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are just a woman scorned, eh?
