On this mornings wgrv website.

A homeless woman was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with criminal trespassing at the Greeneville-Greene County Public Library.

60-year-old Carolea Oliver had been previously escorted from library property by police and told not to return. She was found in the rear of the building around 11 a.m. on Tuesday and taken into custody on a charge of criminal trespassing.

Oliver was being held in the Greene County Detention Center and is due in court this morning.

What else was she doing? If I was homeless, I would want to be able to use the library. What did she do to be banned previously?

Most municipalities would help someone find some type of assistance but apparently they just throw you in jail around here. A fine example of that "Christian charity" they like to brag about all the time. Nice.

There are alot of pecan trees behind the library. She may have been hungry and ate some.Snoots may have wanted them for themselves. Just speculating...

Why are you so worried about it? Not my problem and not yours.

it IS our problem you idiot. when authorities overstep their authority and violate one's rights - even the homeless - we should all be concerned. unless the woman did something illegal, she has every right to be at the library and can not be banned legally. it is public property. the staff likely got their noses all bent out of shape to be exposed to the homeless and called police. it is they who should be arrested along with the rediculouse excuse for police we have here.

Hey, Cat turd. Pecan trees don't really grow around these parts. I figured you'd know that!

Maybe you should look behind the library. There are lots of them on main street and A.J. home.

The woman is homeless, What are you people thinking? She will have 3 meals, a place to sleep, and be warm on the cold nights. People we are not Knoxville or Memphis, we do not have a place for the homeless to go too. This could be anyone in Greeneville, She has no job no home no food, at her age where could she get a job? This is just sad.......... We may see more of this in our town. What about family? She may not have anyone. Just saying!!!!!!!!!!

What about all those big, fine churches downtown? They keep expanding so you'd think at least one would have some kind of outreach program. No, Greeneville isn't a city, it's a small town, but you'd think there would be somewhere for one homeless woman besides the county detention center. Geez.

I did not think of that reason she went there. It is very sad and I don't blame her if that's why she is there

Jail is luxury for the homeless. 3 hots and a cot, what else could a homeless person ask for?

I wouldn't know, I've never been in jail. Pretty sweet place, huh?

I wouldn't know either. What brings you to insinuating that I have been incarcerated? It seems pretty simple to me. Someone who has no food, bed, shelter, or address just may appreciate the accommodations of any jail. Hell, for no cost but to society, they can watch TV, take a hot shower, eat a hot meal, make phone calls, and enjoy a bed every night.

Pretty sweet place from the homeless perspective.

Actually they get two "meals" a day, not three and that's only if someone younger and tougher doesn't steal hers ( they will- she's old). There are many more people housed there than "cots" ( they are actually bunks) and again, those go to the ones who fight for them first ( and win). Many of the prisoners sleep on the concrete floor.
