Police officers jobs are not like the rest of the jobs out there. They have the ability to ruin or save peoples lives, even take lives away. I say if a police officer messes up on the job they should be at risk of losing their job. But no, instead they are only tapped on the hand a little bit and spoken kindly to about what they should and should not do. There are very few cases where a police officer was found guilty and actually lost their job over it. Most of the cases ended with suspension and potential loss of pay. OOOOOOOO!!!! Don't scare them to much chief. If I new I could go to work and make mistake after mistake after mistake and nothing much would happen to me, I wouldn't mind to keep on making those mistakes. I do respect police officers, but I do not respect some of the behaviors I see out of some of them. Police officers should also receive greater rewards when they do their jobs correctly. Maybe a vacation, raise in pay, or promotion. Street cops are the ones I am aiming at here. The ones in the office do not have to make tough calls like the street cops do. Believe it or not but there are office cops LOL! What good are they really?, I don't know.

even though they have the title police officer, they are still human. Subject to mistakes. But for the ones i know they punish their selfs more than being in trouble could. Majority of police officers take much pride in their jobs.
To answer your question about office cops, there is much need of them. You have correctional officers which keeps your criminals behind bars. Believe it or not some of the street officer actually state they would not go back to working in the jails because of the danger and the stress. Then you have dispatchers. They are responsible for getting you the help you need you you call 911. And relating the information to emergency personel. Then you have transport officers that transport inmates from county to county. Then you have your guards that protect the court houses.

Could you give an example of the type of mistakes you are referring to (paperwork, criminal or something else). Are you referring to local police or police in general? I would like to respectfully offer my insight on the subject.

If a police officer makes a mistake they should be at greater risk? Well to answer your question. Yes when they make a mistake they are at greater risk because they risk their lives ever time they hit the clock. In every split second decision they make if its wrong they can die. God bless all these brave men and women who are at great risk for simply doing their job so the rest of us can be safe.
