Well, it looks like Coach Poore didn't stay long. Does anyone know where he is going?

Wooooww. We work out buts off all summer for this guy and had a great summer season at that, then he up and leaves. I have had a diferent coach every year ive been at scott and all it is doing is dragging the system down. Every coach has his own ways and its not easy to adapt from one coach to another coming from a player of many coaches. lol Hope we get a coach soon someone who will stick around

@gohighlanders, Don't you think there might be a reason you have a different coach every year? Probably has to do with administration more than anything. Are they committed to allowing a coach to do what they need to do in order to win? I can't say that I know do know anything because I don't, but I heard Duncan didn't feel that there was a committment. Also, I know Poore wanted to be nearer to his and his wife's parents.

not to bust your bubble but the boys need a boys coach, not a girls coach. Yea our administration is committed to what it takes but coach duncan cant handle taking directions from other members of the school. There is no way coach sharpe will get the boys job. He has a baby to take care off, im pretty sure the girls take up more time that what he wants but he loves the sport so its understandable. Coach Poore, well coach poore is a good man and coach he took a team with only 3 of the varsity players, back and put them with 5 up coming juniors and beat 3A schools like clinton, and only losing to Knox central by 5. This should tell you something about coach Poore and the players he HAD on his team. It takes skills to win, but also you have to have the heart and will, and thats what Poore had and his team.

I was with him a yr and he knew he should have had two state championships. But think why did he leave when he did and why leave at all? A great coach makes the program.....and yeah yeah recruiting. He told me he just did not have the athletes coming or here anymore. That said you can tell why his record is so good. If i had a great team first yr and then rode that and moved to another loaded team of course i would have a great record. He was an administrator so he did what he wanted. As a PE teacher i seen him again do whatever he wanted. He knows the game, yes.....but as a professional educator he is lacking and a disrespectful man which comes from his ego. From my time with him he admitted to choking with GHS possibly best team ever and then told me a comment about not having good players so is leaving. Did not spend time with him outside school so as for any other info on him.....i have none. This is my experience with him and i would not employ him.

Here it is 2017 and he is being run off from Heritage high school. For the people that says he is a good man, well you probably had to pay him under the table to get your kid some playing time. He doesn't play the best players because we have an outstanding 6' 8" player that hardly plays because a 6' 0" player, who's father is a high ranking officer in the Blount county sheriffs office, starts and barely knows how to play basketball. Duncan uses the booster club money for his own personal needs and plays only 6 or 7 players throughout the season. Not because he doesn't have a bench but because he is in the pockets of certain players parents. This mans ego is off the charts and all you have to do is look at a lot of these comments to know he isn't a great coach, he just moves from program to program to find teams that can help his record. He doesn't develop players and most of the time he just shatters their confidence. Oh, just look how he schedules his seasons.....first ten games will always be cupcakes and the reason he doesn't go far in late season tournaments is because he doesn't develop his teams to become tougher, he tries to intimidate his player into his way of thinking instead of teaching. He loves to push players during practice and cuss them when no ones around to witness him doing it. This has gone on for the three years he been at Heritage. He is very creepy around the young girls at our school and loves to have them sit on his lap. I believe this has been an ongoing problem for him no matter where he coaches. The fact is this man shouldn't be allowed to be around children. Teaching, coaching or whatever, he is an example of what we wouldn't want our sons to become. Someone from the TSSAA needs to step in and ban this man from coaching in Tennessee from now on.
