Non-sequitur. No mention was made of presidential involvement or support.

They need a union so its not as easy and cheap to just run drivers to death and then hire others I hear they skimp on maintance too - save the dollars and put safety of the public at risk -local DOT bought and paid for as well as HASSLIM our governor but its a free country you don't have to work for them

I've heard for years how the drivers are pushed to their limits. Log books forged. Multiple log books. Skimped maintenance on the trucks. Less than desirable tires and a whole lot more. That's what happens with a company that size GREED. bloodsuck every dollar they can. I have several friends that either work or have worked there from mechanics to drivers. A good union would bring Scott into check.

Yes with 11% unemployment we don't need better paying jobs and more of them so we can buy stuff and repair our local economy NO WE NEED WORKERS hungry for more work less pay THE LOCAL JOB CREATORS LIKE IT THAT WAY

Or he may just shut his company down in Greeneville and move it somewhere else. Then how high would the unemployment be. I know several people that got laid off a couple years ago, that were making big bucks. Still haven't found a job yet, but they now realize they will take less money. When you get hungry enough, you're not nearly as valuable as you think you are. If you don't like your job, go get another one. Money will never make a job any more enjoyable.

Well thats what WEALTHY CONSERVATIVE republicans always say we'- if we don't get our way we will LEAVE take the jobs with us thats why we need OBAMA so we can tax those that are sitting on the WEALTH PIE of the county not creating jobs but pain and suffering FOR THE MAJORITY while even in these hard times of AMERICA they are getting richer

MANAGEMENT at landair ain't happy either below vp level from what I hear - LOOK SCOTTS a good guy as far as I know and I don't believe he got started hauling drugs as the rumours around here have it but the workers should get a fair share of the money they produce -ITS THE RIGHT THINK TO DO

These pro-union posts are amazing. First, any company Landair's size can't force drivers to flub their logs. They operate just like every other mid-sized carrier with company drivers; they constantly battle with lazy drivers who don't ever want to run, but complain constantly about their paycheck. If I had Niswonger's success and wealth and the union thugs rolled in and strong armed themselves in, I would shut the doors and sale the company. About the only thing a union does is take money from their ignorant members to pad their own pockets while fooling their members into thinking they are battling to get them better wages and work environment.

Good luck Landair, I hope this isn't true!

Not sure but I believe Landair has been forced to use electonic logs for to many DOT right ups and wrecks -they do drive newer trucks now so they have good equipment -70 plus hour per week is to much I hope they do cut that down some with the new HOURS OF SERVICE RULES coming soon next year

There's no reason this business has to be located in Greeneville. This isn't some miracle hub for transportation. The business could be sold or moved very easily. When you have a going business and a union threatens to strike, you stand the chance of losing some good customers. Of course if business slows, then you layoff the drivers, by seniority.

Yeah, we need Obama(there you go using WE). He's helped so much his first 4 years. What jobs are he creating? You are aware that he is one of the wealthy ones also.
