Employers have always cared about the bottom line, it isn't a new concept.
They do have to make a profit to stay in business, unless government bailouts are in your future, then he!!....spend, spend, spend.
The constant complaints about CEO pay is sooooooo tiring. The old class warfare, blame-game, finger pointing, it's the bosses' fault excuses are just that....excuses.
If you have a full time job today with benefits, you should be thankful. Why........because over 70% of the jobs created today are part time and most have no benefits.
Get used to it in this overly government regulated atmosphere.
10 years ago companies didn't dedicate entire departments to monitor and adhere to government regulations.....now they do.
It is a major, major cost of doing business, and it's getting worse every single day.
10 years ago? Well then, it was Bush/Cheney's Administration that put all those Gov't. Regulations on you, according to your own timeline...and yet, you highly support the TEApublicans! Go figure! Just some more of that well-known "TEApublican Logic"!

I disagree.
I've been with a company 35 years, received my 1st promotion at the 15 year mark, received 6 promotions since.
I travel to Mexico twice a year to visit a sister plant.
I assisted a company here in town recently that employs a little over 200 people. They had to hire a "consulting firm" to give them assistance on how to deal with the new ACA. Their personnel dept was not comfortable dealing with it by themselves. The "consulting firm" cost them $45k for a 1 month audit of their insurance as it compared to the ACA. They followed up with their recommendations.
So, the ACA regulations cost this company $45k just to have the new law "explained" to them.
Please feel free to call me a liar.
well, even though I don't owe you that courtesy, considering your past Posts...I won't call you a Liar, but I will say that I don't believe you!
I know too many People who work at the Management Level of a lot of fairly large Companies in this State, that haven't had any trouble , at all, in understanding the Obamacare changes, so far.

Yup, those black guys prefer white women cause the white women are prettier. Hardly ever see a black guy with a black woman anymore. The black guys like that long straight hair. I have black guys hit on me all the time. Too bad the black girls are so fat and ugly.

And...Companies don't even expect you to stay. Company Loyalty ended in the 80's when jobs began being outsourced...it is a thing of the past!
If you don't leave the Company, the Company will leave you. They actually don't want you to stay very long, because it costs them money, especially if they give percentage raises. But, even if they don't, it's not to their financial advantage for an Employee to stay with them for a long time, except for the CEO and maybe, a very few of the Upper Management.
Where do you come up with these philosophies? It actually cost a company more to restaff and retrain when an employee leaves. Which country does a small business outsource their labor to? The only way a company leaves you is when it goes under. It goes under when costs exceed revenues. It is as simply as that. In your mind, the CEO takes all revenues and everyone else be damned. However, in that scenario, there won't be revenues for very long.

Once again, don't speak about something which you know nothing about. You simply show your ignorance of the subject. You can't know how a business operates sitting behind a computer surfing public internet forums all day. If that were the case, everybody would be a corporate consultant. You maam are certainly no corporate or business consultant.

And "Negro"??? How old are you, anyway? The word, "Negro" hasn't been used since I was 5 years old!

And you never answered why you think Obama changed his mind from called raising the debt ceiling "unpatriotic" to calling not raising the debt ceiling "unpatriotic." Since you avoided that question, I will give you my response. It is simple - politics. When he stated that raising the debt ceiling was "unpatriotic", he thought that philosophy would help get him re-elected at that time. Now, when he states that not raising the debt ceiling is unpatriotic, he now think this philosophy will get liberals re-elected. Politics from both sides are killing this nation.

So everyone can make their lives more important by trolling public internet forums all day long while sitting idly and not being productive at anything while complaining about those who are aren't doing enough. That's certainly a recipe for success.

I've got news for you.....there are a lot of actors and actresses, sports figures, and singers that make more in a year than most CEOs.
Funny, no one complains about them.....and what they contribute to society.
You need to look that up on your little Websites that you're so fond of. You'll find out that you're wrong!
Look at their Salaries, stock Options, Bonuses, and all they get...then, look at the total amount of all those!

If memory serves, I think I just read about the CEO of McDonalds. I'm not sure , but start there and then, look at the Wall Street and Big Bank CEOs...the Ones that light their cigars with Hundred Dollar Bills, as reported by "60 Minutes"!

It's not over by any stretch of the imagination. We will be right back in this same situation 90 days from now. That's what this act accomplished. Kicking the can down the road induces uncertainty into our economy. Uncertainty leads to less consumer spending. Less consumer spending leads to a stagnate or declining economy. A stagnate or declining economy leads to less jobs and more national debt. You know, sort of what we have now.

Hi Tired. I would respectfully like to respond to this as an employer, and yes, a Conservative employer. First, I do not doubt for a second that you are a dedicated employee and an asset for your company. I think I saw earlier where you stated you were in Healthcare, a well respected industry which is a necessity. I have a daughter who is a senior in UT's nursing program and I do worry a bit about the present situation the healthcare industry is in and the direction it is heading.
Anyway, I can easily see why a lot of industries' wages have been stagnated and benefits cut. What employees don't see are the staggering cost increases that have come about in the past 5 years, especially regarding staffing. I don't know about the healthcare industry, but in my industry, workman's comp rates have doubled in the past five years. The reason for this is many insurance companies are simply abandoning offering workman's comp insurance. Also, social security minimums are increasing. Yes, this is a great program and benefit, but some employees simply forget that employers pay half of their social security, along with medicare. And medicare has increased as well. Along with these increases is a rise in unemployment tax. Not the tax itself, but the circumstances which determine the tax. At least in Tennessee, it is very hard to not get unemployment if you are terminated or quit your job. This phenomenon started about 5 years ago to a point where now, you can simply appeal the unemployment decision until you get approved. Yes, if an employee loses his or her job through no fault of their own, they should get unemployment. But now, you can show up intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, exhibit severe insubordination and still get unemployment. I know because I have had this happen in all of these instances. What that does is drive up unemployment tax. Along with these tax hikes, franchise tax, excise tax, use tax, property tax, local and state corporate taxes have all risen drastically. There are also many indirect taxes or costs employers must pay simply to meet governmental guidelines and be able to receive standard insurance rates. Such costs include background checks, work steps programs to determine an employee's physical capabilities, drug tests, OSHA safety training, etc. Add all of these costs up and you can imagine how much that adds to the general payroll budget.
A lot of companies also want to attract quality employees. It is my philosophy and a lot of others that you get what you pay for in staffing terms. Companies like these offer healthcare, vision, dental, 401K and disability benefits. All of these benefits have seen their costs rise exponentially over the past 5 years.
All of these costs are part of the total payroll budget along with actual wages. When the costs other than wages are accelerating, wages stay stagnate. Sometimes, when all of these costs rise enough, then some of the optional benefits get cut along with stagnate wages. For most companies, this is a last ditch effort at trying to sustain profitability. Employees are the company, so this is the last type of cut any company wants to make. The actual total wage cost for any employee has risen drastically over the past 5 years due to these cost increases. However, the average employee only determines their pay as their direct wages. The average employee doesn't see the rest of the cost of their employment. What I am describing is typical of any small business, the major employer in our country today.
Waa Waa Waa sorry, just hear charlie brown's teacher but cannot understand your tiraid Just watch Fox News and relax..Take a boner pill, take a nap, take a walk, or take deep breaths.. The sun will come up tomorrow!
