There is enough votes in congress to end the shutdown . Many republicans have stated they would vote to bring a clean bill to a vote but the speaker is afraid to do it because his job is on the line. The teabagger influence in congress is losing its bite.

The unemployment rate fell in August but for the worst of reasons: Many Americans stopped looking for work so they weren’t counted among the unemployed. What’s harder to tell is why they stopped looking.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics said the August unemployment rate was 7.3 percent, down a tick from 7.4 percent in July. The worrisome part is why the rate fell. The size of the workforce declined by about 300,000 and the participation rate fell to 63.2 percent from 63.4 percent—the lowest since August 1978. The participation rate is the number of people either working or actively searching for work as a share of the working-age population.

Your unemployment rate stat doesn't tell the story.
It only considers people actually drawing an unemployment check.
Check the job participation rate. It's the stat Demotards won't talk about. The stat that measures the US population against how many people actually work. It's the true number of unemployed.
The job participation rate is the highest in what....45 years.
Look it up, Ms Stat.

same stats used by the GOP, same stats used since it was 10.8.

would be much lower without the sequester, but lower is not what the GOP wanted. POTUS would get credit, and that sure can not happen, at all costs.

Media mogul Mort Zuckerman had some harsh words for the President's signature piece of legislation Friday.

Appearing on PBS's McLaughlin Group, Zuckerman said, "88 percent of the jobs that have been created this year are part-time jobs. A large part of the reason for that number of part-time jobs which is unprecedented in American history is because people are apprehensive about the impact of ObamaCare on and the costs of ObamaCare on full-time jobs."

So far this year there have been 848,000 new jobs. Of those, 813,000 are part time jobs (for both economic reasons and noneconomic reasons). As can be seen in the above screen shots from the BLS.gov , the total part-time jobs changed from 26.437 million in January to 27.250 million in August. To put it differently, an incredible 96% of the jobs added this year were part-time jobs.(It isn't clear to me why we see the differences in part time for economic and noneconomic reasons.) However, these numbers raise a question about whether the employer mandate that has already been forcing some companies to move to part-time workers so as to avoid government imposed penalties is having a significant impact.

Part-time employment has surged in recent months, highlighting both the tentative nature of this long, slow economic recovery and the changing dynamics of work.

Through July, according to Labor Department statistics, the number of people working part time in the U.S. grew four-and-a-half times as fast as the number of full-time workers. And the share of all workers who mainly hold part-time jobs is at levels not seen since the early 1980s.

Several reasons account for this trend, economists say, from technological change to shifting demographics, from economic unease to the onset of the Affordable Care Act. Some Americans are happily part-timing it, for a little extra money in semi-retirement or in school. Others work part-time because the only alternative is no work at all.

In August, the Labor Department says, there were 7.9 million Americans working part time involuntarily, almost twice as many as were in 2006. Four-plus years since the Great Recession technically ended, those numbers haven't changed much, and people who watch the labor market say they have no idea when they will.

The real estate bubble burst, people lost their life savings in the market, lost their homes, their jobs, and their independence. Children and famlilies found themselves in shelters, living in cars, in tents after losing middle class jobs they lost. corporations saw the highest profits ever, after banks were bailed out, and CEOs got their bonuses and went to the capital in DC asking for bailouts in their corp. jets. Shameless. Corp. welfare.

In a little over a month, the White House, a US senator, the AFL-CIO, the US Chamber of Commerce, and numerous publications have weighed in on a disturbing trend. As Sen. Susan Collins (R) of Maine pointed out early in August, the “overwhelming majority” of jobs created so far this year were part time. Critics were quick to blame the pending health-care law, because employers don’t have to offer health benefits to those who work less than 30 hours a week.

Without a doubt, it WILL BE their end...the question is, how many of us will they take with them, and how long will it take for the Country to repair the damage they have done to the Country, and to ALL of us?
Folks, let me explain something else to you...the U.S. buys on Credit and in Bulk, we get a much cheaper price that way, just like a Business does.
When we Default, our Credit is destroyed. That means that we will not only have to pay for everything in full at the time we buy it,(no more buying on credit or in bulk)...it also means that we will pay a higher price for it!
Now, where do you think that extra money, that we will be forced to spend for NOT buying in bulk, and we will be forced to pay higher prices for the same items BECAUSE of NOT buying in bulk...where do you think that extra money will come from?
Well, I can tell you...IT WILL HAVE TO COME FROM RAISED TAXES ON EVERYBODY, except the Very Wealthy, of course! The TEApublicans will protect them from having to pay higher taxes, just like they have all along! But, EVERYBODY else, will see their Taxes (TAX RATE) go through the roof!
This is what will happen! You can believe it or not, but I promise you, THIS IS WHAT WILL "HAVE" TO HAPPEN! Our Middle-class and Upper Middle-class Wage Earners will become Poor Wage Earners, practically overnight!
Google the question, if you don't believe me and refuse to read my posted Links, because you NEED to know what all this means for YOU, and how serious it really is! It will destroy most of YOUR Lives, if not ALL of OUR Lives, as we know them!
I have NEVER been more serious about anything in my Life than I am about what I am telling you, is going to happen if the Debt Ceiling is NOT raised and the Nation Defaults!
Believe it or not, I do NOT want to see that happen to ANY of us, not even the Teabaggers because, I think they just do NOT understand how serious this is, nor the consequences of it, because they have been lied to and don't know it, or believe it!
Surely you don't seriously think anyone actually believes you know one iota about our country's economics and financing? Sometimes I actually think you think people pay attention to this baloney.

Where on earth did you get the "buying in bulk" concept? How do you figure buying on credit allows us to purchase goods cheaper?

If you want a little bit of reality, everything the government purchases will be more costly if we don't do something about our debt problem. I think you forget the last time we ran into a fiscal cliff and did nothing about our uncontrolled spending, our credit rating got lowered. What do you think will happen if we don't do something about it this time? What do you think this will this do to our cost of borrowing money?

You are nowhere close to being an economics professor. I would suggest you focus on your own finances first, then try to tackle larger things.

People study hard, have successful careers and still may become disabled, get cancer, age, become elderly, or are children with diseases like cancer. These things should not cause them to lose everything including their lives, homes, dignity and medicare and social security are not entitlements. People pay into them their entire working lives. It is not a hand out.

Well, that's better than the TEApublicans can do ...and they got elected by promising to create jobs, 5 years ago...they still haven't done it, not even Part-time Ones!

OBAMA DOES A BETTER JOB THAN TEAPUBLICANS, AGAIN!

Can anybody tell me ANYTHING worthwhile that the TEApublicans have done? I've asked this question before and I have, yet, to get an answer.
In 5 years, I can't think of one single thing that they have done. Zero, Nil, Zilch, NOTHING! And it's their job to fix problems and make things better for EVERYBODY, not just for themselves and their Wealthy Benefactors...and they have NOT done it, not even once in 5 years!
