No, there was great political division and party fracture becoming apparent, but what might be considered national "Class-warfare" in any legitimate sense did not exist during the Reagan administration. We can play semantics..but I think you know better.
One of your points is: "That was the beginning of the transference of wealth from the middle class upward."
You cleverly frame this idea in the context of money being taken from one class and given (transference as you say) to another. This appears to be the self-deception you enjoy, but it's still sheer deception. If I made a million dollars this year, that earning would not require your money, or anyone else's! This is a socialist propaganda prong with great marketability, but it's a lie! America's collective wealth "is not" a predisposed amount of wealth to be divided up among groups being baited to fight over how big their respective piece will be! This is deception, yet many reside therein!
You also posed this:..."The big banks got a bailout, the small banks got a bailout because of a zero interest policy,.."
Why do you think lending institutions would ever pursue credit and mortgage loan policies without traditional practices of assuring loan worthiness, verification of employment or reasonable payability standards, all for the privilege of "zero percent" earnings potential? Here, I'll help - does Bill Clinton's "Community re-investment Act" sound familiar? We both know the answer to these questions, as well as the why, where and how "bundling" came to be an institutionalized practice. We know it started with Fannie and Freddie while our esteemed politically driven regulator in chief, Barney Frank looked the other way.
You are at liberty to tickle your fancy with the idea that "Obama-care" is a "republican" initiative if you insist, but I'll let you explain that to others who may not know any better. Many liberal Democrats and liberal Republicans have danced with this devil for decades, but this president stepped from mere flirtation, into certain disaster, like Mitt Romney before him!
I posted a set of statistics relating to wealth in America and who held it several times. It showed a clear transfer of accumulated wealth from the middle class to the wealthy. I noticed that you didn't refute the figures "Willard". Why ? because you couldn't. I also posted the fact that real wages for average Americans rose a total of 4% when adjusted for inflation in decades.. A TOTAL of 4% not 4% a year. Again, you didn't refute the figure. What trickled down "Willard" ? What benefit came to average Americans from cutting taxes for the wealthy ? Better jobs ? Wealth for everyone ? Not according to those figures. More employment ? Obviously not. What average Americans got were massive budget deficits which allow right wing Republicans to make cuts in programs that, under normal circumstances, American citizens wouldn't tolerate. Reagan got Tip to push a raise in the retirement age of Social Security, because he claimed we didn't have the money to properly fund Social Security... as he began the biggest military buildup since WWII and cut taxes for the wealthy by 20%. And you think I enjoy "self-deception" ?

You know, the pretense of ALGORE’S “Inconvenient Truth” was that a 1.5C degree increase in global temps would cause the oceans to flow over NYC, and cause total devastation. Just a mere 1.5C degree.

Well, they ain’t gonna like this:

US Temperatures Have Dropped Almost 3C Over The Past Year

And to make things worse, if the current trend continues, the US will approach absolute zero by the end of the century.

That brings us right back to the seventies when these same “global warming” nuts were fretting about global cooling.

Hi OT. You know, I have had the same thing happen. It is sort of frustrating when you put a lot of thought into a post and then have it deleted as soon as you post it. I first thought it was because of saying something sombody thought was offensive, but that thought vanished when I noticed posts showing up saying Republicans like mating with goats or something to that effect right after I hit the "send" button.
It only happens after you’ve written something that you think is great; that makes your point succinctly, so that any idiot could see your viewpoint. And in one click, it’s GONE. Twenty minutes of your valuable time down the drain.

There’s really no conspiracy here. There’s no one on the Topix end with the ability to edit/delete posts in the seconds after you hit send.

What happens is that when you click on Reply, there may be some timeouts, either on the Topix side, or even your router’s side. Plus, internet connections will sometimes interrupt, even if it’s just a nano-second. You don’t see it because your browser does not show these interruptions, but they DO occur. Believe me, I’m in the business of supporting retail POS systems that use the internet to connect to our servers. Pure clean internet connections are critical, and these momentary interruptions drive us crazy.

Once the connection is interrupted, your browser sort of loses its place in Topix. Typically what will happen is that you’ll hit send, and you’ll see connecting……. If it takes more than a second or two, there’s a good chance you’re going to lose that post.

This also explains why some longer posts are done twice. Most people will see connecting…… and they’ll hit send again. Bingo, a duplicated post.

The way I handle it is if you know the post is going to take some time to compose, I’ll click Reply, and cut and paste it into Word or Word Pad. That way when you type your reply if it gets lost, you can cut and paste it again. Works like a charm.

It has been an exceptionally cool spring around here, and there is a lot of conflicting data out there....but we have been experiencing warmer than normal years recently. I see nothing wrong with trying to PRUDENTLY limit carbon emissions as best we can anyway. We should strive to give our kids and grandkids a world in at least as good shape as we received it from ours. It's the only one we have.
