Its not a Republican thing, its a cost of doing business thing. If an employer's costs get raised, you either get higher pricing or some costs get cut. Sometimes cutting costs involves cutting employees. That's how businesses are operated. Since you said you had a business once, you should know this.

There is a plethora of issues that contribute to a state's economic prowess. Tennessee ranked 16th out of 50 last year in this obviously 'right-wing' website.

So if you have been responsible for a payroll, then you know raising the minimum wage increases an employer's FUTA, SUTA, FICA, Workman's Comp and Health Benefits.
