This would be relatively easy to enact and CAN have an effect on the carnage.
Weel, OT, the only workable solution is to place an armed guard in every school.Expensive!

I think you're right again, OT. But, I also want our Leaders to look at the Mental Health aspect of these attacks, not just the Gun Control issue and so far, there's little of that. I hope that changes in the near future. I don't know what can be done about, if anything, but I still want it looked into.

I see your ole Friend is back. Good to see you again, VET.:)

Actually, I meant it to be 'well' with a Southern drawl. Thanks anyway.

If they confiscate them, they will simply make their own:

I believe I heard that there are five million AR-15s owned by Americans. It would probably not be wise to try to take them.

Congress has done it before, so that's probably what they will do, again. I don't think there's many of them that have enough intelligence or that want to work hard enough to come up with any new ideas. So, they'll just probably just do whatever has been done before and call it a day...after a lot of "playing" to their Constituents back home in front of the CSPAN camera.

I actually more with Sensenbrenner's stated views, a Republican, more than any of the other Congressmen in this Article. And I do think that we should wait until all of the Victims are buried before debating this issue on the floor of Congress.

I can think of nothing worse than what happened in Newtown, CT.

I have an affinity for the area, since upper CT was my territory for my first sales job, and while they sell the idea that it’s a quiet rural town, the fact of the matter is that most of the people who live there commute to either NYC, Stamford, Greenwich, or Bridgeport, since real estate values in those towns are ridiculous. A typical commute is 2 hours each way. It’s for the poor folks who can only afford $900,000 houses.

It is NOT rural TN. We’re talking Rolex’s, BMW’s, and high dollar country clubs. There’s hunting in them thar hills, but it’s weekend lawyers, doctors, etc.– sorta like the folks who show up at biker events on brand new Harley’s with leather outfits that cost more than most real biker’s bikes.

Guns are for the rednecks. All ten of’em. In fact, the typical resident up there would probably freak at just seeing a firearm. They are no different than your basic media types who are now screaming about gun control.

Let’s face it. You’re either a gun person or you’re freaked out by them.“Is that a GUN? Is it REAL?” If you’re not a gun person, you are simply incapable of understanding why people own them in the first place. And “assault” guns like the AR15 just drive them bonkers.

While the media feeding frenzy takes up all of our TV air time, I figured I’d do some searching. Are assault weapons the threat they are being portrayed as?

The FBI maintains a lot of statistics. For instance, during the period 2006-2010, we averaged 13,000 murders, of which, firearms were involved in around 9500. Fully half of these are suicides. Not many assault rifles were used in these suicides.

Rifles were used in only around 450, and shotguns were used in about the same numbers. There are another 1700 murders where the firearm type is not identified.

Those numbers don’t warrant the hype the media is pushing. If we were to once again ban assault weapons, there would be little effect on the number of murders.

It all comes back to the familiar saying..."Guns don't Kill People, People Kill People"!

IMO, the Guns weren't the problem, the problem was letting a Mentally Ill Person have access to the Guns. And I don't understand why his Mother let that happen. she didn't have to give up her guns, she only had to keep them out of his reach where he could NOT get to them. There are so many ways she could have done that...WHY DIDN'T SHE? she could have kept one of the Pistols at the House for protection and locked it up, and stored the Others somewhere else.
I have to wonder about her Mental state not to have done that and certainly about her judgement! She paid the price, but so did so many Others, who were innocent and had no control over the situation, but SHE DID!

When my youngest son lived with me I kept my guns locked away in a safe all of them except one, that one I had hidden very good but accessible to me.

If she had done that, the Nation wouldn't be in mourning and we wouldn't even being having this discussion. I just don't understand why she didn't.

All these recent mass killing are caused by secret Gov. microwave mind control. These things have been happening for a long time, decades, not years.
