I think the thought behind this program is a wonderful one! The ladies, especially Mrs. Barbara Lawson, work very hard to make sure their program is a success!

I would like to point out something, and I'm sure I will offend some by saying this, when I went to prom 25 years ago, there was no such program. Those of us who wanted to go to prom but didn't have parents to buy our dresses, or rent tuxedos, etc did the CRAZIEST thing....we got....are you ready for this????......JOBS!!!!! I worked in fast food, retail, and even mowed lawns in order to pay for my dress, shoes, etc. Eventually, I bought my own car. There were no handouts, we either worked to get what we had, some parents provided for their kids, or we did without! Doing without certainly isn't fun but neither is work! Working instills character & teaches self-reliance....IE "no hand outs" means a stronger society! Pull your own weight or be your own anchor! Harsh but this is what made ME successful!

FYI, prom closet is NOT a handout. I know because I took my Grand Daughter there and paid for an absolutely beautiful gown. Recycling for the greater good, smarty.
