Why is a global mutli biliion dollar company getting tax dollars from the state of Tennessee? Can't John Deere pay back to the community with their own $25,000 of "training"? And exactly what kind of training?

John Deere is not taking the money. It goes to the employees' job training so that they can keep up with changing technology. This grant money goes to further educate imcumbent workers who do not have the level of education it may take to keep their jobs. It is not the responsability of Deere to provide free education to their workers. There are plenty of people who dont have a job that DO have the education needed to perform the job. Those people paid for their own technical degrees. Without those grants, people will lose their jobs because they would be deemed underqualified. And thats why.

yes they do. they dont have to do that. maybe instead of taking the grant they should move the company to china where they will make more money on account of cheaper labor and hiring people who already have an education. these people need to quit crying and be thankful john deere provides the jobs it does for this town. If the company were going under, and you dont know that it aint, everybody would be screaming "bailout for john deere". but so long as the company is making money, theyre nothing but a gigantic evil machine. News flash, this area needs that company. If uncle sam wrote you a 25000 dollar check i guess you would send it back. NOT.

When the CEO is making a record salary but the company keeps getting rid of employees and bringin in more temps at lower cost.....yeah they need it alright. Oh and finding new ways to screw employees out of bonuses. Yeah give them the money why the hell not.
