I just love a man (and especially a woman) who can swear with authority, talent and conviction.

Here is a master. He don't need no hoodie.

Someone that chooses to wear a shirt with F--k You on it is doing so to get a reaction out of people. Looks like his mission was accomplished.

Kind of on the same lines of posting about beating up children or the elderly. He must not of been registered on topix or the blue team would of thought that was COOL!

I can't argue with the fact the guy is ignorant, you don't draw attention to yourself with dope in your pocket. But on the other hand, if all you have on me is the fact that my clothes are offensive and you want to search me SOLELY based on that, then radio ahead and get a cell empty because we're about to get real serious.

I'm surprised "hoodies" didn't go out of fashion once the Trayvon Martin case hit the fan. The tidbit I read on WGRV also left me wondering about what prompted the search. Given the nature of the pocket on the hoodies, it is easy for stuff to fall out or possibly be visible. Maybe the officers saw something which prompted a pat down & subsequent search. I agree that vulgarity alone would not seem enough for a search.

My understanding is city police were in the restaurant and were told the mans hoodie was "offending" the customers, and after leaving they decided he was potentially armed and searched him. I honestly don't believe for one second that if his shirt had said "have a nice day" that he'd be in jail tonight. I can't condone being offensive just for the sake of being offensive, but this is America, home of freedom of speech and expression, city government will NOT dictate to me how I can look. Aside from that city cops, how about finding the dickhead that broke into my car since you OBVIOUSLY have nothing else to be doing.

When I moved to Greeneville a few years ago, I wore one of my favorite t-shirts into a local restaurant:
'God is dead.-Nietzsche
Nietzsche is dead.-God'
The staff and other customers were not amused. I'm assuming they all slept through Philosohy 101.
I haven't had that shirt out in a while. Maybe it's time to wear it again!

I'm thinking this violates the 1st amendment. It's just a shirt. Like someone else said, I am much more offended by seeing someones a$$ hang out of their pants. I do not care to see your $hit streaked boxers. Boys, heed this warning.... I will say something in public.

Freedom of speech doesn't really apply inside of a private business... The owner can dictate what can and can't be said/worn...

While this guy is lacking in grey matter and was probably conceived by a really low sperm count - this is AMERICA and we still have freedom of Speech. I agree with the statement that "the owner" of the property has a right to say what is worn inside his business - he can ask / tell the guy to leave BUT to have the "Fashion Police" of Greene County hassle him and then find "drugs", smacks of Nazi Germany... Probation Office quotes must have been raised and they need $$$$$$...
