Biggest i can honestly say my family could use the increase. I do believe that this is an attempt however to compensate for the tax bill that was discussed somewhere else? as i do not follow politics i can not be sure. All i can say with certainty is many familys need that increase, however it is going to hurt smaller businesses as well as cost some jobs so i am not sure if in the end it is worth it

Increase always sounds great. The cost of everything around you will rise to compensate the wages. People will always struggle at minimum wage no matter what the hourly minimum pay is. That's a fact.

This would be economy killing. It might seem like a great idea, but this would cause massive inflation. It's already started with the national minimum wage going up. More dollars in the open market, the less the dollar is worth. It would be awesome until Milk cost $9/gallon, and going out to eat cost $50.

Say what? The state of TN does not have a minimum wage to increase. Not all states have a minimum wage.

i was under the impression that the min wage sign hanging in my office was an indication that the state of TN does have a min wage, it says 7.25 just saying. Please enlighten if this is not correct, servers are the exception to this.

Minimum wage is federally required. Some states require additional wage requirements that increase the wages for the state, but Tennessee is not one of those. But as for your post, yes, Tennessee does have a minimum wage.$7.25.

Just like when they raised the minimum wage last time, inflation. Then the people that make even a penny over that $10 or whatever they decide on has to suffer for the inflation. They don't get raises to compensate for everyone else's. So the country would struggle even more. As someone else said $9/gal of milk, can you imaging the meat costs, gas, etc. Stupid idea.

Give them a chance? They still would be struggling as well. I would get the raise, my husband wouldn't. I can see both sides. Do you not think things are getting high enough as it is without this added on to everything? Or do you make millions of dollars just to be able to piss it away? Most people don't, and that's who it will untimely hurt. Now please get over yourself.
