If you are nice to them they either waive the late fee or cut it in half...
I've never paid a full late fee there but I also don't expect them to reduce it. Little things like that go a long way towards keeping my business. Anyone that can take my 3 day late copy of "Mediterranean Midget Man Meat 7" and give me a reduced late fee is ok in my book.

For posters HEY and PRETEND TO BE NORMAL, you obviously have reading comprehension issues.
first, according to his/her post, it is 7 days and not 5. Secondly, just doing some quick math, for 7 days, you are paying between 70-80 cents per day total, and on the 8th day, you are charged $5?

Sounds like they aren't compaining about being charged, but are questioning why the late fee is essentially 7x the cost of initial renting.

I do see the point that he/she is trying to support a local business, when they could actually do it cheaper and with much less hassle if they just used NETFLIX and REDBOX.

I figured you were the one that had it when I went to check it out the other day...

Ok so I got the amount of days wrong. When you rent under the 5 movies 7 days $5 deal you are getting a special price because you meet certain requirements (amount of movies and length of rentals). Rented individually the movies cost $1 per night. Once the 7 days are over you have no longer met the requirements for the special price so you are charged the price of a nightly rental for each movie. The store is recouping the lost sale potential for each movie individually. Why is that suddenly highway robbery?

What's the late fee Redbox charges. I can't imagine it being cheaper than popcorn.

REDBOX doesn't have free popcorn. REDBOX doesn't have any popcorn!

Not only does Popcorn Video have the best rental rates, they also provide the most popular movie viewing snack. Thus, you save time, money, and gas by dodging a trip to the supermarket.(-8

Not sure where you are getting your prices, but I just checked REDBOX for the new Batman movie. The blu-ray was $1.50 plus tax, making it $1.65 for 1 night. For the same movie, Popcorn is $2 for 1 night.

I think I see the original poster's point about doing them a favor by renting locally, because that extra $1.35 buys lots of popcorn over a years time.

$5 for late fees on a movie that was 1 day(or less) late? That's pretty silly.

It's on 5 movies. Not one movie. It is $1 per movie per night. And $2-$1.65=.35. Not $1.35.

The poster was referring to older movies. He/She directly addressed late fees on new movies by saying that he/she agreed that the full day rental should be applied to new releases.

The price comparison was made for the poster who stated that Popcorn "had the best rental rates", and my Redbox price proved that argument had no merit.

The poster was referring to a group of 5 older movies that were returned late and charged a $5 late fee. They do not charge $5 for one movie, new or old, being returned. The late fee is the nightly rental price for each day late per movie.
Yes your point was valid about redbox but your joke was off due to your math skills. Since you appear to be Reading Comprehension with another name I was merely having a little turn about.

According to the redbox website, you are charge a set price (daily rental fee) for each movie you rent and return by 9pm the next night. If you do not return it by 9pm the next night you are charged the rental price for each day you are delinquent. If it is $1 to rent and you keep it 3 days past the return time you are charge $4 plus tax.

Renting from REDBOX is not supporting locally owned and operated businesses such as Popcorn Video. FREE POPCORN!
