What mind? You can find "ornamental bamboo" in the floral dept at Food City or Walmart. I'm not sure where to buy the outdoor variety in Greeneville, at this time of the season. Lowes usually has it later in the late spring/summer. Maybe try Heritage Gardens or Ann's Greenhouse. Evergreen in Johnson City is an AWESOME place & usually has it. Be VERY careful to research the varieties & how to plant it properly as many species/varieties are HIGHLY invasive & can take over the planting area & everything else.

Just keep in mind that it is a grass and will spread as such. As Nita said, some will take over anything near it. It is also very fast growing. But it is also very nice as a natural privacy screen or wind blocker.

There are two types of bamboo, clumping, which will grow in a predefined area and running, which will go everywhere. I have found it on Ebay. You want the plant to be able to take temps at least to 0 degrees to 10 degrees in case of a very cold winter.

River cane and bamboo are related but not the same.

I saw some at Wal-Mart the other day but they were for indoors only.
