Ricker what about Gregg. Last time I checked... yeah he is the head coach right? That is part of the problem, just who is the head coach?Gregg ran every play at NC around one player and seems she is still his girl. Outside of the gym, I know what you mean. Parents use to would not have said a word about Chris starting his younger daughter, not so lucky thee days. Parents aren't afraid of the coaches any more. I can remember when folks were so afraid of Larry they actually broke out in hives just thinking about talking to him. Those were the days. Problem is every body thinks there baby is the chosen one. This me group of kids and parents are causing issues all over. Course, Larry would have jerked a player out so fast your head would spin if they hogged the ball and lost a shot or didn't post like they should. So,k it seems coaches are not what they were at one time either. well, gotta leave for the game. No doubt if the coaches don't get a hold on things and get it together this south greene crowd will tire easy. Nobody on the sidelines with the girls but the coaches and people know it. Hope is for better days. by the way, from what you have posted it doens't look like Chris or Gregg know at all where there trouble lies. You don't have to worry about your foes, its your so called friends you better watch.

There are no LADY REBELS wearing Lady Rebel uniforms and the Eye of the Tiger has gone searching for a more worthy gym.

It all began several years ago when Larry was coach. The kids then decided they no longer had to put up with the kind of discipline he put out. They went to their parents who went to the principal, guess who, and ever since no coach at SGHS coaches the way they want to. We must not curse, we must not punish, we must not win crucial ballgames. It tells on the floor big time.

You forget Chris is not the head coach and why do you think he is not the head coach? I don't mean to create a coaches' controversy, all three coaches are excellent but the atmosphere and restraint they are coaching in is not good. Crucial ballgames like the semifinal game last year in the state tournament and the Elizabethton and Greeneville games this week are won by extremely hard work and severe discipline. Coaches often intimidate timid players so they are more afraid of the coaches than they are the intensity of the situation. This is no longer a factor at SGHS. I guess the question that needs to be asked about the Lady Rebel team is do they want to be pampered and be mediocre or do they want to be ABUSED a little and become what they once were. Maybe some good cussing and a switch and a little belt might be good for this team but I'm way out of line now.

I wonder has the Lady Rebel ball team become a popular social club to be in for social climbers or is it blood, guts and desire to be a champion. I don't see the last so I suspect the former, so maybe Cindy Bowman is the right principal for this school. Sorry people my mistake for starting this forum.

Read this thread and the problem is clear=====IT IS THE ADULTS PERIOD, including whoever the nut is that started this thread. Who is clearly not from meadow creek or kentucky!!! I can only say that if one of the players is your child, my sympathies go out to her. You are a very angry individual and perhaps a very unhappy one to boot. Just WHO do you blame for any problems in your life? Maybe your family, a co-worker, Bowman, the coaches, who knows. They won last night and Bowman wasn't on the bench coaching that I could see. Wait, maybe you only say it is her fault when they lose. You might want to stick to an old saying===keep your mouth shut and make people wonder if you are an idiot or open your mouth and speak and show them that you are an idiot.

Reread the last line of your post cause it certainly applies to you because you added nothing of consequence to the forum.

By the way the post game produced a combined 9 points in a blowout win over an inferior team so I don't believe their problem is solved just yet.

If you are going to the ball games and talking to any of the regulars you would know that these coaches have people in the stands to worry about. The biggest problem I see is selfish playing of a couple of players. The PG last year always had that problem. If these girls would learn to share they could be even more successful of a team. From what I hear you learn this pretty fast in college, that it ain't all about you. Maturing takes some time. Just keep your ears open at the game tonight, you will hear the ramblings in certain sections.

oh before you blow a fuse. I did not say these girls were not good players. I am just saying whatever all are saying, they are to selfish with the ball so simmer down we all know you think these two can do it all from what I have read.

I never get angry at anyone who offers constructive analysis. First, I hear the fans but I rarely pay any attention to them because they are all prejudiced in some way or another toward certain individuals and are not objective. If you have been reading my posts you will find that I said no way this team can ever win a championship with just guard play, that is virtually impossible to do. Now let me let you in on a little secret I have watched guards break down defenses for the past couple of years only to see posts out of position, not being prepared to receive a pass or just fumbling it into a turnover or not taking a good shot. The guards on this team are excellent but because of the weak post play they have been forced to take over the team just to be close to being competitive. As for the crowd, I've heard disgruntled parents and fans when the girls were winning state championships, they don't matter except when they can really support the team and rattle the other team. The crowd is getting riled up because they are supporting players who should be sitting beside the gatorade until they are prepared to play the game. Watch objectively, don't listen, don't prejudge.

On my way out the door but just can't resist. They can't take over what they never shared. And there are many times these players need to be sitting (your favorite saying) beside the gatorade cooler. Gotta run now.

Scouting report on the game last night the same as it has been all year, in fact for the past several years, contain the guards the posts are weak and ineffective. I noticed last night in an attempt to bolster the weak post the coaches went with three posts instead of three guards. I agree when a guard is playing out of control they should sit next to the gatorade and most of the time I have seen guards yanked for not playing within the gameplan. The posts, especially one particular post, is not getting the same treatment and the team suffers for it.

Your point is poignant and quite accurate at present but that was not the case at the beginning of the year. This team has a lot and I mean a lot of talent. When they won the County Championship Tournament they were playing very, very well and I could see State Championship Potential. What happen? It was obvious from their play that Chris was pushing for a style more like the State Championship Teams and it seemed Gregg was going along with that. You could see it beginning to happen, but I thought to myself this style of basketball hasn't been at SGHS in a long time and they are going to have a tough row to hoe to make believers of this particular bunch of kids who were used to playing a much slower, easier form of basketball. Sucking air at the end of games, not following passes down the floor, all that had to be got rid of for them to succeed. The kids revolted, the parents got involved and Cindy showed her leadership qualities again and what you see on the floor now and hear in the stands is the result. The potential is still there but the hard work and will are not.

It's sad that some people have to live in the past (their glory days). It blows my mind that any one would say that you need to "abuse a little", belt, curse and switch a ballplayer to bring out the best in them. I wonder if that person has been abused, or abuse their children, all for bouncing a ball and throwing it a hoop to get points, and win a game!!! Wow. Anyone that says that's normal is sick. It's a cultish following some of these former players have for certain coaches. You couldn't convince these people otherwise. Blame everybody unless they go to state. Even the principal who's not even there. There were great ball teams under Mr. Wallin and other coaches too. My gosh, think about what you're doing to children, yes children, they're not adults, or pros. They will remember what you said and what you did. If you'd be the "perfect coach", go to school, and get a job doing that. But, I sure wouldn't want my kids playing for you. Get a life! This is bad for your blood pressure.
