My family and I used to camp there all the time all summer. Ruth and Fred Banks own the place and now due to health reasons, thier daughter has run the past for the last 3 years or so and the rates have gone up. It's just too high now. Other wise we loved being there! It's really pretty. Good fishing spots and swimming spots for the children and boat ramps. nice places for campers or tents. We used to camp at both. They have a couple of little 1 room cottages they've built in last year or so that you can rent out, too. Don't know how much they cost. They have a store and used to have a kitchen where you could order food. not sure if that's still going or not. Never seen any trouble there. Back 6 or so years ago Fred and Ruth used to have a couple do karaoke on weekend nights out there. That was really fun. They've had bands out there on holiday weekends. Not sure how much of this stuff they do now-a-days. There is a pool. It's like $2.00 a person for campers and maybe $3 or $4 for non-campers. Like I said it's been awhile since we've been there. The pool was kept clean and nice. They have bathrooms. You have your partiers there too, but there is like a noise thing like after 11pm I think. Always seem to be nice people there back then.
Just curious

Yeah they are so who like to party. Never had any problems. Most stay at thier camper or area and use a koozie or drink from a cup. Paint Creek is a very nice area and there is no alcohol allowed up there. Tent camping is free, you just have to get there and get you a camping spot. First come first serve. They have an area for campers. Don't know cost for it though. Very beautiful up there. Nice trails and paved road through there from Greene County side all the way to end at North Carolin at the French Broad River. There's some cabin rentals out there too. Waterfalls, ponds, etc. Same things with Horse Creek. My family usually camps at Paint Creek now.

well i live VERY close to banks and just dont understand why anyone would want to go there. i mean if you want to get out on the river and camp and have a good time why would you want to do it with 100 campers around you and drunks hooting and hollering? i would rather find a nice private spot and do my own thing. i just think banks is trashy.

My kids were scared there. They asked to leave early. That has never happened anywhere else we have camped and we camp a lot.

Are they open all year long? My husband and kids like to fish. But I don't know about the drinking. Wonder what else is going on then. Thanks everyone for the info.

if you like to fish try easterly bridge off poplar springs road or even the bridge on bewley chapel that takes you towards parrottsville. there is a nice hole on the far side of that bridge good for smallmouth.

We stayed at one of the cabins in July 2009. It was very nice. We loved it. Everything about that place is great. I would recommend it to anyone. The campers are nice too.

Well after asking around a little more about camping at Banks, I am not so sure about it. I heard on end of the Camp Ground, there is drinking, drugs, and sleeping around going on. I don't think I need my kids in this type of environment. Thanks everyone for your input.

i use to camp at Banks util last summer. There is too much drama there. Yes there is alot of sleeping around that goes on there. Yes there are lots of drugs and too much drinking that goes on at the end of the camper section. The rates are way too high. And the rules they have are just ridiculous. All it is is a ton of fifty year olds runnin around have naked trying to act like they are 21. its trashy

i grew up there. every summer my family was there. i had many child hood friends that i even go to school with now and have a good friendship with them. fred and ruth would keep the camp ground great. its far from scary there and everyone that was permit campers there where all llike family. we all watched one anothers campers and just have one anothers backs. when the holidays came around thats when all hell broke loose that was the trouble all the crappy ppl who travel camp. you all suck! other than that kids would all ride golf carts together and swim you had so much stuff to do. when i got older i hated it. thats when their daughter took it over her and her husband made it over rated. to much loud noise from the gay horse shows and they priced everything up up up. it got to high to camp their permint. my family left there a couple years ago. i miss it it was like my home away from home. but now it maybe story oppsite you just have to go see yourself. and yes ppl party but hey we camp and we pay a high price year long we deserve to have a little bit of a good time. if that bothers you leave.
Well
