At 14:46 in the long video, our police chief looks like a Nazi enforcer when he jumps in the old guy's face. He is a big man.

After watching the long video, and looking at the 14:46 time mentioned, it is my opinion that our police chief Terry Cannon is the biggest disgrace of all these people with our county mayor Broyles being second. I wish that we could get rid of both of them, instead of just one.

It scares me to see such an ugly display over such a minor infraction. I think that Cannon needs to go back in for training. He is clearly a hot head, and not capable of his duties. He looked like he was enjoying playing enforcer with a badge. I hope that he doesn't carry a real gun, because it is rumored that he has alcohol issues.

I've known Steven for most of his life, and I can say positively he is one of the easiest going, niciest guys on the force. But, but he looks really bad on this one. Just from what I've seen, I've got to pull for The old man. I hope he wins in court, then sues. I also hope Steven was just having a bad day. We've all had them..

I think the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion for the intent purpose of furthering a specific agenda. I am pro-river and I feel like the officials conducting the meeting acted in an underhanded, disgraceful manner. But I also suspect that the elderly gentleman, who had a stake in the outcome, may just as well had an agenda of his own. I don't think he went there with the express intention of disrupting the meeting or being removed or arrested, but as long as he was, why not take advantage of the opportunity to promote his interests? I'll bet dollars to donuts that there WILL be a lawsuit, and I wouldn't mind seeing one, if not for two things.... my taxes will be raised to pay for it, and all the righteous anger is being misdirected. Those officials on that panel acted inappropriately with the secrecy and the dead mics and prefilled front seats. It was a disgusting display of which Hitler would be proud. They should not have ORDERED the old man removed. But since the order was given, and the police were there to obey orders, the anger directed at Officer Hixson is uncalled for. He was doing his job, and seeing the same video that most of the rest of you saw, I made a completely different interpretation. I did not see anger in his
face and I saw no force being used. I, nor none of you, saw what the alleged advise that occurred of camera. I have never before heard of reports of brutality or advise of power directed towards this particular officer. I know of officers that i'd be less inclined to defend. Mr. Overholt will have a much better sounding lawsuit if abuse had taken place, but he's going to have to prove it. If he's got multiple cuts and bruises from being brutalized, I hope he got pictures. A single bruise on the thin skin of a 76 year old man is hardly an indication of having been manhandled. People, please direct your righteous anger where it needs to be... On your elected officials. Not at some underpaid, working class officer following orders. This man has no history of violence or any other complaints. And no, I'm not family, although I know his family and I know them to be good, kind, respectful people who don't deserve to be dragged through the mud and used as apawn in this political battle. Okay, that's my 2 cents. Fire away. I don't care.
Yes, the one who ORDERED the arrest should be the focus of this concern. The cut and the comment about "concrete time" is disturbing. Was it really necessary to make a 76 year old man WALK to the jail? What's wrong with being a little bit "Andy Griffith" instead of a big A$$?

I think they opened up a really big ole can of stink here. This guy is going to lawyer up and go after the Gestapo that caused this. It's going to cost both monetarily and with people getting voted out of office.

Agreed, but again, it wasn't Officer Hixson who made that comment. Can anyone tell me how far the walk to jail was?

The worst part is at 14:46 of the long tape when the police chief Cannon jumps up in the poor old guy's face and said "what did he say?".....meaning what did Broyles say that you could do and couldn't do? He had a very mean and threatening demeanor. It was hardly Andy Griffith like.

If I read the story correctly, the arresting officer was a City Of Greeneville policemen. So what would make you think that the man would be taken to the county jail what with the city jail being just across the street from GLPS ?

Look at most of our officers. Swelled up on roids constantly on the edge of an adrenaline explosion. To protect and serve? I think not. It wouldn't have taken much to have broken that old mans arm. I bet he has fingerprint bruises on his arm. I remember when hixon was a nobody and worked at gl&ps. Maybe he should look back on that. He didn't have to be that aggressive.
Hello he's a cop don't think that classifies as being anybody? Maybe he should go into Emma fighting since he's so tough?

These "police officers" actually arrested this man, this veteran, because he has a hearing problem. Then forced him to walk when he asked to rest. If these guys say they only did this because they were "told to" by their boss, they had no choice, they have a huge integrity problem. Are these cops veterans? If not, someone should explain to them veterans are one reason these guys were even allowed to be police officers. Even worse, if they are vets, there isn't enough shame in the world for them. Wonderful examples of law enforcement. I wish the cops, the mayor and any other fools who went along with this travesty, the worst thing I can think of: their own karma.
