Overholt's hearing is at 8:30 Monday (tomorrow) morning. Let's all show up at the courthouse at 8:00 to stand against this abuse of power!

I agree with you. I don't think the majority of those speaking out really care about an elderly person getting locked up, they just want an opportunity take pot shots on old grudges

How about we go to work. That's usually what most credible people are doing at 8 am unless your retired.

I take it you missed the video in the op showing what happened.

I don't work in a factory and have the flexibility to leave my work when I please. That's what I gained by getting an education. Go to bed. I am sure you have to rise early to make it to the plant.

Im curious as to who you are. Considering you made an account just to post in this thread. Mayors butt buddy maybe? You obviously aren't very credible, because you are too ignorant to know that not everyone is at work at 8am.

There is protocol, but there is also right, and wrong. And this incident is wrong. Are we to fear speaking at public meetings for fear of being arrested by the Mayor Broyles "Gestapo"?

Look at most of our officers. Swelled up on roids constantly on the edge of an adrenaline explosion. To protect and serve? I think not. It wouldn't have taken much to have broken that old mans arm. I bet he has fingerprint bruises on his arm. I remember when hixon was a nobody and worked at gl&ps. Maybe he should look back on that. He didn't have to be that aggressive.

Without taking sides in the matter, it should be noted that in a public meeting (such as this) the audience is expected to be seen but not heard, much like being in a courtroom. A public hearing (such as what they had out at West Greene in April) is designed to be open to comments from the spectators. Whether or not Mayor Broyles overreacted is up for debate, but as chair he had the right to keep the proceedings orderly. The actions of the police are an entirely different story...

I see Hixson's family on Facebook talking how mad they are that people are posting about the incident. Obviously, Hixson still feels that he is in the right. These cops think they have no limit in their authority. Sad display of ignorance. There was no reason to arrest the old guy or be that aggressive with him. If Hixson were a man, he'd apologize for his actions.

I wonder if that is fairly typical behavior in a department run by Capt Terry Cannon and Lt. Pat Hankins, who is running for Sheriff now. If Hankins gets elected, will the Sheriff's deputies start doing steroids so they can whip up on the locals too?

lol That's funny. Anyone with sense should ask theirself how it would make them feel to see a cop disrespecting, and hurting one of their elderly grandparents. Someone obviously never taught this Hixson joker to respect his elders.

Just how much do you know about the incident outside of what was shown in the video? You are absolutely right, without a witness it will be hard to prove what happened after Mr. Overholt was led out of the building in the video. Because he will need a witness to corroborate his story. Apparently, you imply you are a witness, because you claim people are making "false statements".. I find it odd that you are so quick to point out that without being a "witness", then someone is making "false statements". Innocent post? Or are you protecting yourself, or someone else? Curious you would choose the name "Silent partner".

I am able to look at Hixson's demeanor and listen to the audio, which shows me that his temper was high and he was treating Mr. Overholt with undue hostility. And no, it will be the GPD's responsibility to prove that Mr. Overholt's claims are false. First, there was no reason to try to make him walk back to the jail. Second, there was no reason to arrest Overholt or even remove him from the meeting. Lastly, Mr. Overholt gave a very detailed account of the incident that should be corroborated by intake time, transport request, etc.

I hope this abuse of power is investigated and if Overholt's account is true, as it appears it is, Hixson should go flip burgers.
