I do believe that the poster was correctly pointing out that you are considering this whole matter "small town drama"; and you don't seem to give a damn about what was done to Mr. Overholt?
Typical Greene County Head-In-The-Sand behavior, why is anyone surprised?
I can't help but think that "small town drama" is not nearly as derogatory as...

“You pathetic hillbillies in Greeneville sicken the rest of the country. You don't understand freedom, you don't understand the right to free speech. You all might as well crawl into your bottle of Oxys and zone out because you are useless.”

If you look here, good people, you will see a typical Greene County denizen slithering out to stand against anyone who looks down on their town's redneck mentality. They don't care if the new plant poisons the river and they certainly don't care if it hurts their neighbors in the counties downstream.
And if you read all my posts, you'll see that I am and always have been pro-river and anti-USN. I am also anti-out-of-towner-sticking-it s-nose-in-where-it-doesn't-bel ong. "Typical Greene County"? That's all inclusive of pro and con river activists. Your comments About my fellow citizens Are uncalled For and Have nothing To Do With The issues. By the way, good of you to change your name for this post.

Instead of fighting among one another, should you not be deeply concerned for the fact that in all levels of government, the disregard for the rights of the citizens of our country is being propagated? Whether or not Mr.Overholt was out of order, I do not know, but there is absolutely NO excuse for any so-called public servant to disrespect a citizen of this nation, no matter what that person's agenda is. The rule of law must prevail in ALL situations, and it would seem this conflict is wearing thin on some folks in Greene Co. I personally feel the decision to re-apply for the right of way permit was already made and this meeting was just a dog and pony show for the public. My question is where lies the authority of this Industrial Development board to provide private access to public utility room on public property for the benefit of that private industry for just a few jobs? Who is this Industrial board? Was it authorized by the voters? By the county commission? Who stands to gain outside this industry? Someone should be asking the question of how water can be provided to them without a public utility doing that, where I live, I have to buy the water from a Utility company. Why are they different? Look, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but fighting about it will accomplish nothing, but uniting together to get answers behind what's driving all of this, and what is best for the region is what needs to happen. I'm really appalled at the apparent disregard for the welfare of the citizens, and their voice in this. At the very least, it appears Mr. Overholt's first Amendment guaranteed right of free speech and his dignity were violated. That ought to scare every one of you.

So when our public officials going to apologize. and say that this meeting was not held to the standards that we expect of of our town officials, and that our COUNTY idiot mayor can't order the CITY police to arrest the ELDERLY CITIZEN who can't hear because they don't want anybody to hear.???????

Well that was the point wasn't it? They DID NOT want you to hear what they were saying. Secret meetings, back alley deals, whispers and nudges and winks. Our government in action.

They are scared of sunlight and open meetings!

I agree! The blame lies squarely on our local officials who have held their secret meetings on this issue since DAY ONE beginning with the first rezoning of the property where the nitro plant was to be built and is now under construction. I am certain that more meetings are still taking place in order to get the state's approval for the pipeline to dump directly into the river. Why do you think The Governor was REALLY here yesterday??? It wasn't just for a photo-op at Walters State.

This was so clearly planned....it made no difference who spoke up...they had thought they were being cool when they moved the meeting without public notice until the last minute...because they did not want the public in that meeting.. The first one to cough wrong would have been thrown out ..I think they were taken by surprise when as many showed up..Broyles didn't count on that..so he let his temper get up and acted like a gestapo...shouting and pointing.. How many public meeting normally have six policemen there ???Why that night ???Why weren't the board sitting on the pod with the mikes on ???Why was there board members sitting with their backs to the public ??? The list of why ...goes on...This board was very unprofessional and was actively rude to the public as a whole...at the very least ! There usually is only one reason that stands as to why they don't want the public there and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out ..They did not want that meeting public !! Mayor Broyles is now acting like a first class coward..if he truly believes he was in the right ...then face the public and answer some of these WHY's !!
