What,three,four states now? Golfers disappearing,driveways falling in,people being sucked into the earth. You see all this,but do you notice if the ground is soft beneath YOUR feet? Is anywhere safe?

Due to the high clay content of our soil and the depth of our water level East Tennessee is pretty safe from natural sinkholes. That is not to say that man made cant be a problem. Any water that is allowed to unnaturally run underground can cause a sinkhole. That is why you see so many around construction and new roadways. As long as you don't live on a steep hill or an a mountain bluff you should be ok.
