Tusculum has a really nice walking and biking trail but they do not maintain it properly. The trees hang down so low in places on the trail you have to duck down to get under. Some places are grown over so badly that it is barely half a trail. There is one place on the trail where the mud is a few inches deep and another area where water stands for days after a rain. With such a nice walking and biking trail you would think it would be better maintained. I mean even the million dollar bridge they built is growing over with weeds in places. They could even get a few people from the jail to get out and do stuff like this.

Yes. They could make some jailbirds do a little work BUT it would violate their rights.

Why don't you start cleaning it up if you're using it?

Garbage, brush pickup, mowing, and recycle route is all they do. That's a 40 hour week for them. Both are personal friends of mine. If you want to get technical most of the trail is on green valley (state property) which is leased to the hugest bidding farmer. The original poster didn't say where the problematic areas were.

Huge muddy area where Edens road, the water standing is not far from the bottom of bridge follow the yellow brick road you will see where the path is in the dirt around the water.
And when it rains it stands on the walk crossing over at the college. The bridge night be an eye sore but its nice

The city of Tusculum payed dearly to put up that bridge, surely they could have afforded a paint job which would not only relieve the eye sore but protect their investment.

How long is the trail?

Seems that those who use the trail could form a maintenance committee. I would think a small group could easily knock out trimming of overhanging trees / brush. As for standing water, well, we've had more rain this year than about any time in history, so expected. If dirt/mud needs to be removed, seems that would be an easy fix as well. Anyone close to the trail have an ATV that would carry cleanup group / tools and gear once a month?
