So you think with being a rec director he does do rec things. He works with children so to the children he is good at games.
Management, not so good, A rec department will run itself, but a department will suffer without leadership. The department has a long way to go to be good.

will Butch be in the office? Not very famous for that. Im not slinging but Greeneville has bigger issues than the parks and rec dept. LACK OF JOBS is a bigger problem than Butch Pattersons boys.

Lack of jobs-- just like the rest of the United States.

He must have been really out of the office when he landed that big golf tourney for the town or got that huge grant.

Butch takes time off from work to go to tournaments in other cities. This is where he makes a lot of money for his family. He calls in sick for a day or two and sometimes has to stay gone a week, and still gets paid for working at the rec center. He knows how to use the system to make money and be on the cities time clock. Alderman that have been around for 20 years know how Butch works his pay, this is Good old boys watching out for each other.

There are plenty of city employees who make second incomes including Fire Chief, Public Works Director and Town Recorder. They should be able to use their time off anyway they want. Dont be such a hater because someone is willing to work to make extra money maybe you should try it.

He still gets money into the city coffers, so it sounds like he is doing what he is supposed to. Tournaments and everything are great... So he is out of the office at other tournaments. Seems like he may be learning stuff from being at those.

I would love to see his city time sheet and compare it to his tournaments days.

This is stuff he should have learned in college. How to run a rec center!
I don't see our police captain learning new ideas by holding private hand gun carrying permit classes making money on the side and calling in sick to be there at his private classes.

Actually police captains do go interact with other law enforcement agencies to learn new things and new ideas. If they are able to do handgun permit classes, what would be wrong with doing that?

Teachers go interact with other teachers in staff development to train on new ideas. Many teachers also make extra money on the side by tutoring... What is wrong with that?

Well the fact is that Lisa Fisher holds down the fort at the rec. She is there early and leaves late. Butch is a good fellow and pretty much well liked, he is just real lazy and a bit of a slacker. He is lucky to have Lisa & Tammy to do so many things well for him. So if his job is to delegate, he has done it well.
But I guess, we all have our opinions and if you can get by on it, more power to you!

Those are nice until you LAY OUT OF WORK and draw a sick check while you are doing other leagues in other cities.
Tammy and Lisa are tired of covering his lazy butt. and letting friends live rent free off Greeneville because they are his friends, I forgot, he is above asking permission from the city council. We canít even give this boy a reprimand.
The golf tournament, it is not free. I donít see Butch paying for this bright idea costing over 30 grand, Most departments have to ask permission before Agreeing to accept any business that will cost the city and county that kind of money.
Way to cram it down our throats, HERE IT IS and by the way since we accepted this remember it will cost thousands of dollars.
And we arenít going to use our own golf course; Link Hills will be paid a few thousand dollars to host the tournament. I guess we all feel in Greeneville that our own golf course apparently SUCKS.

You are an idiot the money is coming from the motel/hotel tax that the county takes in. Not one penny of city or county taxes. This is the 1% that its supposed to come from and the county commission voted to us it for these types of things. If you read the paper $15,000 to bring in $250,000 I would like for my investments to have that much return. Call all the local motels and restaurants and see how appreciative they are. Oh yea all golf courses got to bid on the tournament thru the partnership so if you don't know what your talking about don't make yourself look so bad.

Good one golf supporter, you seem to know the facts. I guess that these forms get off base in many ways. The post asked what we thought of a man's job- Butch. I just got on here to read and decided to post. I use to coach and got frustrated in trying to catch Butch in at work to discuss items dealing with the league/game, etc. It did seem that Charlie and Lisa did most of the heavy lifting in the rec dept, but they may have been their job. As we do not know his job description, he may be following it to the tee. I guess if he did not, he would not be there. The Golf tourney will help our community and we got it due to our great community and Butch did have a big hand in it from all the media reports. So good job here for him. Now if he would just work that hard on getting sponsors for the coaches and helping them out the sky would be the limit for our rec department! Charlie is gone now so the town needs to get them some help or Lisa will leave from overowrk and it will be a big hole to fill for our town.

One last thing to ask. Are we ever going to get the sports complex going? What is the hold up now? I know we lost the funding for the walking trail due to no work being done in the year time period, so I hope the same does not happen on the half million we have to start the sport complex. Our kids deserve the new fields and it would open up a few jobs for our local construction workers on this job. They would inturn hopefully spend this money locally on many things.
