I just nibble on the infected corner until I open up a path to the actual nail. Once I get a good bite on the troublemaker I rip the sucker out in one motion.

I use to get ingrown toenails all the time. I tried everything but they kept coming back... finally I came up with a solution that has taken care of them, I cut my leg off...

Now that I say it I feel kind of silly, I guess I went a little overboard... I could have just cut my toe off...

It's not too bad unless you have just brushed your teeth. Toothpaste makes everything taste weird.

Using a sharp knife or razor blade, scrape across the top of the nail. Removing that thin layer will vause the nail to grow differently and you will get relief in a couple days. Works every time.

I would have to agree! Went earlier this year and had to actually had to have some removed etc because I tried to take care of it myself for so long. So far so good.

Did your toenails grow back?
Since one can have toenails removed, I wonder what the purpose of toenails and fingernails are, aside from being painted.

Yes toenails and fingernails will grow back. The purpose is to protect the ends of your fingers and toes... its an evolutionary thing...

Get some dreft baby detergent, add about 2 tablespoons to a bowl of warm water big enough for your foot. Soak it for 15 minutes and then clip the middle of the toenail and work your way to the corners and it should come right out. There are some clippers in the pharmacy at walmart in the isle where the foot products are that curve specially for preventing them coming back. Good luck and if it's infected it's going to hurt like hellll.

Depending on your stance on Darwin and the Theory of Evolution, there is the school of thought that our nails are remnants of human evolution from monkeys and other lesser primates.

There's that theory, and then there's the simple explanation that just says "So guys can scratch their balls."
