The idea that the outskirts of Greeneville are watched for speeders day and night is maddening. People may be speeding, but the deadly accidents are happening on our community streets, not 11E. It's about revenue, not community safety.
The speed limit on Jones Bridge Road is 35 and after plenty of calls, I have never been able to get anyone to sit on my street and give anyone a ticket. In fact, I found out that the Deputy I was told would contact me (who was never in when I called) didn't actually exist. I guess the joke is on me when local law enforcement doesn't feel like doing their job. Two homes on Jones Bridge have literally been hit by a speeding car. Nobody goes less than 55 on my residential street including law enforcement.
Sitting on 11E ticketing people is a lot easier than patrolling local streets where they might be confronted by the situation of ticketing someone they know personally. It's a tactic in small towns all over TN.
Well, sounds like that falls right into Steve Burns jurisdiction. Give good ole Steve a call and let all know what he says.:)

Most of the wrecks on the bypass are rear end collisions caused by all the stop and go traffic from all the stoplights ! I hate sitting at green lights waiting on all the backed up traffic to move. Speed can and does killl but my goodness gpd - ease up on all the tickets ! How about trying to catch a their or drug dealer ? Oh - because they are probably not on the bypass doing 47 in a 45 zone !
Yeah right cops around here chase drug dealers. Funny! Think only training around here is how hold a radar gun.

I'm not from greeneville. I was just visiting and boy did they give me a welcome. I thought I was just driving with the traffic. On top of the ticket I couldn't find my insurance card quick enough so I had to go to court. I told him I found my card and he said I was too late. Then the other day my wife was visiting and guess what she got a ticket. We decided on our next vacation we will just take the interstate around greeneville. On top of it all the cop had an attitude. We feel sorry for you people that have to put up with that. Also I can see why a lot of business investors say stay out of greeneville.
We just had a similar experience! We were also shocked to be stopped, as we were driving with traffic and still do not believe we were driving as fast as he says we were. I wish we had thought to demand to see the radar, but our shock just didn't allow us to be on top of it. To beat all, about 75 feet ahead of us, the speed limit sign changed to a faster speed... nice little set up you've got going there Greeneville. I had some questions about the ticket and court process for the officer, since we are not from here, he was as friendly and informative as a telephone pole. You have a beautiful area, and the law is the law, but don't set people up to fail and then take advantage. This was my first and last visit to your area. I'll be sure to spread the word. Thank you.

Just got a ticket in your fine county and here is what I found out. You can take defensive driving class but it doesn't wave the court costs. LOL So you can pay $40 for the class and then pay $208 for the ticket or just pay $213 for the ticket nice money racket you got going. I just so happen to be doing 70 in a 55 on 11E and I know I saw 65 not even 5 minutes prior. Oh well I guess they need something to pay for that 5 million dollar football field for that crappy football team to get to the 3rd round of the playoffs every year! Plus the General Sessions court clerk office said they do not accept the Gototrafficschool.com . Just click on this link and someone tell me what it says under details:

How do you see the 65 sign and miss the 55? We are nice ones and thanks for that comment. By the way, if you were going 70 that's still speeding in a 65 zone.

Maybe a moron, but not a dumbass. No where is 55 speed limit in our city. It is 55 going down the annexed 4 lane to industrial park, but stays 55 no 65 signs! Maybe if you saw a 65 sign you were enjoying our beautiful county. Glad to hear you get to help pay to preserve it and our beautiful football field. What county did you happen to say you were from. I would enjoy looking them up on TSSAA to see what round they are getting too in the playoffs. I'm sure it's Blount County.

Way to finish off a dying little town. Besides high taxes, no jobs, no shopping, no attractions, and extreme political corruption, now be known as a speed trap town.

Drivers here are only concerned about 2 things.

1. Getting a Handicapped Placard
2. Talking on their cellphones while half-assed driving the streets
